"Expressions 2005",  A celebration

Once again The Expressions, came out triumphant with the success of its mega show Expressions 2005 true to the expectations of the jam packed crowd at the grounds  of St.Peter’s Church, Barkur on 27th  March  evening. Formed five years back  with the like-minded people, The Expressions, is a dynamic group and keeps changing with the time, was a fact evident right from the beginning to the end  of the show. The whole event was professionally organized with the importance  to the culture and traditions with lots of new ideas thrown in.

The evening started exactly at 7 pm with the ringing of the church bells and the prayer song by the members followed by the theme song "Expressions 2005" composed by   Kishoo, Barkur, sung to its finest by Kishoo, Eric Soans and group. The rest was a history of rich, non-stop cultural extravaganza of music,  dances and jokes exhibiting the talents of the members and the guest artists, lasted for 3 hours till 10 pm, mesmerized the audience. All the items presented were  well rehearsed and presented to the perfection.

The comedy skits by Alwyn Andrade, Stroiney Pais, Sujatha Andrade, Prakash Shetty , Gretta Lewis, Stephen Lewis and others had the audience roaring with laughter whilst the melodious songs by Praveen Carvalho, Eric Soans, Sushma Lobo, Sanita Suares, Naveen Dais, Zita Gonsalves, Baby Priyal D'Almeida kept  them asking for more. The traditional dances like "Bharatha Natyam", “Bhangra”, "Uyyale" and “Darya Kinare” were presented perfectly.

The crowning glory of the evening was the well choreographed dance "Vande Matharam" by Shiney Lewis ,Stenita Lewis and group created surge of patriotism  among the audience. The dance encased the cultural diversity of India, our beloved nation.

It may be recalled here that the debut programme of The Expressions group Expressions 2000   on 3rd   December 2000 was a instant hit, and Sambhram on 10th February 2002, and now with the roaring success of Expressions 2005, The Expressions group repeated the history once again, proved by the fact that, the impeccable compeer of the show, Mr.Manu Bantwal  had to ask the reluctant audience to leave the ground, long after the show was over.

HEGDE TRIUMPS

Three time sitting MLA of Brahmmavar and former Minister for Fisheries and Ports in the erstwhile J.H.Patel’s Janatha Dal Government, K. Jayaprkash Hegde, once again proved his popularity, influence, clout over the voters and supremacy over other political parties, in the just concluded Grama Punchayat Elections.

Out of some 28 gramas, Hegde supported Members come out victorious and controlling in almost 18 Villages. Congress will govern 8 Punchayat’s and in 2 places BJP got majority. In places like Yadtady and Kadoor, Hegde’s men sweeped the poll, by winning all seats.

In other words out of total number of 453 seats, spread in 28 Villages, Hegde supported independents won as many as 240 and the Congress Party 183 and the remaining very few seats to BJP and others kitty.

Barkur consisting Hosala and Kacchur re-affirmed its faith in Mr. Shantarama Shetty’s men, one of the popular leader of the area, as this one and Kotetattu are the only two Punchayat’s going to be ruled by BJP.

But the surrounding Hanehalli, Pandeshwar, Handadi, Yedthadi etc will have Hegde supporters in large numbers to govern the local bodies.

The results will give additional strength to Mr. Hegde to serve the electorate, in days to come and solve the problems faced by them, especially poor roads, clean drinking water, electricity, a well equipped Hospital, support to Educational institutions and more importantly to keep the secular fabric of Indian Constitution intact in this region.

‘Barkur on-line’ team congratulates Mr. Jayaprakash Hegde and ‘All Newly Elected Members’, irrespective of Party affiliations and expect them to work for the welfare of the region in general and Barkur in particular.
