An English professor wrote these words, "Woman without her man is nothing", on the blackboard and directed his students to punctuate it correctly.

The men wrote: "Woman, without her man, is nothing."
The women wrote: "Woman! Without her, man is nothing."
I will leave it to your imagination to judge which sentence is punctuated correctly.

We the Ex-members and the Amchen Barkur Team extremely happy to read, in the latest issue of Raknno Konkanni Weekly, that the  ICYM Unit of BARKUR, adjudged as' Adarsh yuvak Sangh' among almost 125 units in the Diocese of Mangalore, for the year 2001/2002.

The President, Office bearers, and the Members of CYM Barkur, together with Directors / advisors, rightly deserve praise for their yeomen service and this recognition, of securing 12th rank, further give you encouragement, to excel in social, cultural, religious fields, as well as individual success, in coming days!

Further, it has won Amcho Yuvak Award, and collected maximum number of subscribers for this Youth Magazine in Barkur, truly this will cultivate reading and writing taste in growing children.

We also understand,  that 'bishops pastoral visit' to our parish, scheduled on coming 13th and 14th of July 2002, we are optimistic that necessary appraisal of youth activities in this town  / parish,  will influence, H.E. the Bishop, to send an Assistant Parish Priest, at least during this year of Silver Jubilee.

Keep it up youngsters of Barkur, on this day of honor, we salute, each one of you both leaders and followers, and pray Almighty to bless all of you in abundance!

On behalf of ICYM Ex-Members Committee,

P.Archibald Furtado, Muscat,7th July,2002.

I am delighted to read that Matysagandha Express Mumbai to Mangalore train stop at Barkur station. Thanks and appreciation for  those who put their efforts. When I go home next time, I prefer to travel in train so that I can get down  easily at Barker station from there it is a walkable distance to my home.

Certainly there won't be much hassle to book the air ticket in advance, excesses luggage at Mumbai airport and finally .... hate to travel from Bajpe airport to Barkur another one and a half hour journey !I can avoid all these problems.

A seven year old girl asked her mother, in simple English, "Where do you come from?"  The perplexed mother opened a manual on reproduction, gathering enough courage, explained to her about the sanctity of marriage, the meaning of gestation, and lactation etc.  Satisfied with her explanation, and with a sigh of relief, the mother asked her daughter, "Now do you know, where I come from?"  "Not really," the girl replied, "dad always brags that he came from BARKUR. I was wondering where you came from."

I hope you guys are doing fine . Online Barkur has become  one of the Favorite site in my book mark. Usually I read the updates in this site during week ends. I was thinking of giving some suggestions One thing is to add a members column, So that people can register with their information. Definitely It will help to improve the communication among Barkurians . Another column I would suggest is to add technology column , where we can share our work experiences , latest Technologies and will lead to know what others are doing.  Definitely I will be able to provide some of the information about my working field,  the Medical Imaging. You know internet has become Integral part of daily life of US citizens. May be same awareness should develop in our place . We all agree it is very costlier for   common people like us but may be in future we expect it should be common like TV.

I would like tell hi to all my class-mates ( 1993 PUC batch at NJC Barkur) who are all in this photo.

Thanks
With Regards
