Barkur Educational Society Holds Annual General Meeting, Elects New Board

The Barkur Educational Society (BES) convened its Annual General Meeting on September 30, 2024, marking a significant day for the educational institution. The meeting, which commenced at 3:30 PM with a traditional prayer hymn led by lecturers Mrs. Jyothy and Aishwarya Shetty, saw a gathering of dedicated members and educators.

Vice President Mr. Shedikodlu Vittal Shetty extended a warm welcome to all attendees. Chairperson Mr. B Shantarama Shetty expressed gratitude for the unwavering support of the members throughout the year before proceeding with the agenda.

Key Highlights and Achievements

Secretary Mr. Ashok Kumar Shetty presented the minutes from the previous AGM and the Annual Report, which were unanimously approved. The report highlighted several key achievements:

Enrollment Growth: Despite competitive challenges, the National Institutions showed encouraging overall progress.

Academic Excellence: Impressive results were reported across various levels:

   - SSLC (NJC & SVVEN): 100% pass rate

   - PUC: 98% pass rate

   - ITI: 100% pass rate

New Initiatives: Launch of NEET & CET Coaching classes, sponsored by alumni and well-wishers.

Community Engagement: Various activities were organized, including district-level sports, games, and Pratibha Karanji.

The society acknowledged the significant contributions of the National Old Students Association and other donors in supporting various initiatives such as Guru Vandana, free uniforms, transportation, mid-day meal facilities, free NEET & CET training, and scholarships.

Financial Overview

Treasurer Mr. Krishna Hebbar presented the Income and Expenditure Account, Balance Sheet, and Auditor's Report for the period ending March 3, 2024. Mr. Jayaram Shetty provided an analysis of the financial status. A proposed budget for the upcoming year was presented, focusing on overall infrastructure development and improved facilities for quality education.

Strategic Plans for the Future

Mr. Rajaram Shetty, Correspondent of SVVN English Medium High School, led a discussion on strategic goals for the coming year, which included:

1. Boosting admissions to PU and SVVN, along with facility expansion to accommodate growing enrollment.

2. Introduction of new short-term courses in ITI and PU College.

3. Increased focus on digital and print media usage, technology integration, and community outreach to showcase courses and ensure 100% placement in NITI and all affiliated institutions.

Election of Board Members and Office Bearers

The existing team of office bearers, led by Mr. B Shantarama Shetty as BES President, was re-elected due to the members' continued faith and confidence. The newly elected/re-elected board includes:

- President: B. Shantarama Shetty

- Vice President I: Shedikodlu Vittal Shetty

- Vice President II: B. Seetharama Shetty

- Secretary: Ashok Kumar Shetty

- Joint Secretary: K Shankar Shetty

- Treasurer: A Krishna Hebbar

Correspondents for various institutions were also appointed, including B Gopala Naik, B Rajaram Shetty, B Ramachandra Kamath, A Ratnakar Shetty, and B Srinivasa Shettigar. P. Archibald Furtado was named Administrative Coordinator of all National Educational Institutions.

Open Forum and Contributions

During the open discussion, members raised questions and provided feedback. Notable outcomes included:

- Formation of a sub-committee comprising Mr. Mahesh Udupa, Raj Gopal Nambiar, and others to oversee the PU Section's daily academic progress.

- Donation of 10 cupboards for the library by Mahesh Udupa and the Old Students Association.

- A generous contribution of Rs. 50,000/- by Dr. Sathya Narayana Shetty for the CET/NEET Coaching Fund.

Members emphasized the need for improved communication with stakeholders and parents.

Upcoming Event

Principal Prof U Kottraswamy invited all members to attend the District level Sports and Games Competitions, featuring Tennis, Volleyball, and Jump Rope, scheduled for October 1, 2024, at 10:00 am in the National PU College grounds.

The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks and closing remarks by Vice President and former Principal Mr. B Seetharama Shetty, marking the end of a productive annual gathering for the Barkur Educational Society.
