Barkur Youth Shine at Yuva Dabazo 2026, Leading Kallianpur Deanery to a String of Diocese-Level Wins
Hanv Patki takes four honours, Battle of Bands title comes with Barkur youth in the lead, and Ceolla Pinto bags second place in Spotlight.
Barkur: The youth of ICYM Barkur made their mark at Yuva Dabazo 2026, the Udupi Diocese youth fest, with wins across film, music, dance and drama.
Hanv Patki sweeps Film Rush
The biggest success came in Film Rush, the inter-deanery film competition organised by ICYM Udupi Diocese. The Konkani short film *Hanv Patki* ("I Am a Sinner"), presented by ICYM Kallianpur Deanery, won awards in four categories:

-Best Short Film (First Place, Short Film category)
-Best Director: Jeston Dias, Barkur
-Best Screenplay Writer: Jeston Dias, Barkur
-Highest Views Prize
Directed and written by Jeston Dias, barkur the film was released on YouTube during Monti Fest, with a premiere at 7:00 pm. Barkur youth Abidiel, Renish, Dwayne and Prajwal were part of the film, which reflects the town's commitment to authentic regional storytelling that connects faith, community and cinema for a wider digital audience.
Battle of Bands: First Place for Kallianpur Deanery

Kallianpur Deanery also took First Place in Battle of Bands, with Barkur youth in the lead. Ceolla and Jeston provided the vocals, while Renish took on dance. The performance also featured an acting skit, with Abidiel and Rashel in lead roles and Dwayne contributing to the story writing.

Ceolla Pinto of ICYM Barkur added to the tally by winning Second Place in the Spotlight competition at the Diocese level.
A creative hub in the making


With these results, Barkur continues to emerge as a creative hub within the Udupi Diocese's youth scene. Names like Jeston, Ceolla, Abidiel, Renish, Rashel, Dwayne and Prajwal show a young community that is writing, directing, singing, dancing and acting its way to the top.
