Barkur, March 29, 2025 – National High School, part of National PU College in Barkur, received a significant upgrade to its digital learning resources thanks to a generous donation from its former students. On Saturday, the school proudly accepted six brand-new computer sets, five monitors, one UPS, and two batteries, a gift facilitated by Brady Company Limited, Bangalore, through the initiative of its alumni. The contribution, valued at approximately Rs. 2.25 lakhs, underscores the enduring connection between the institution and those it once nurtured.

A modest yet poignant ceremony took place at 2:30 PM in the college’s Computer Laboratory to celebrate this milestone. The event drew distinguished guests, including Rotary officials from Udupi, alongside school representatives and donors. Mr. Ashok Kumar Shetty, Secretary of the Barkur Educational Society, opened the program with a warm welcome, expressing deep gratitude to the former students for their thoughtful gesture. “This act of kindness reflects their unwavering bond with the school that shaped their lives,” he said, highlighting their solidarity and concern for its progress.

Representing Brady Company and the alumni, Mr. Prakash Acharya—a proud member of the 1998 batch and a key figure in the company’s Accounts & Finance team—played a pivotal role in securing the funds. During the event, he and Rotary Udupi senior official Mr. Gururaj Bhat were honored with traditional shawls, garlands, and mementos. In his address, Mr. Acharya reminisced about his time at National Junior College (NJC), urging current students to make the most of the new facilities and care for them. “These computers are here to open doors for you—use them well,” he said, blending nostalgia with encouragement.

Mrs. Hemavathy P.S., speaking on behalf of the faculty, couldn’t hide her delight. She emphasized how the donation addressed a critical need, far surpassing expectations and enriching the students’ educational experience. “This is more than equipment—it’s a gateway to opportunity,” she noted.

The event saw participation from several notable figures, including Mr. Archibald Furtado, Administrative Coordinator of the National Group of Educational Institutions, and Mr. Raj Gopal Nambiar, a member of the BES Governing Body, alongside teachers and staff. Mr. Gururaj Bhat, representing Rotary Club Udupi, praised the former students’ commitment to their alma mater. “This isn’t just a donation of computers; it’s a gift of hope and progress,” he said, commending their efforts through the company’s CSR fund.

Adding weight to the occasion, Rotary Club’s Ramachandra Upadyay presided over the program, promising ongoing support to the college. “Seeing this long-pending need fulfilled fills us with joy,” he remarked, optimistic about the brighter future these resources promise for the students.

The ceremony wrapped up with a heartfelt vote of thanks, capping an afternoon steeped in appreciation and renewed dedication to the school’s advancement. The new computer sets stand as a powerful symbol of the lasting ties between National High School and its former students—a legacy of giving back that will inspire those who walk its halls in years to come.

National PU College and its high school section extend their heartfelt thanks to Brady Company Limited and the alumni for this selfless contribution. As digital empowerment takes root in Barkur, this gesture ensures that today’s students are better equipped to face tomorrow’s challenges—all thanks to the generosity of those who came before them.
