Dubai, UAE — The Barkur community in the UAE came together for a vibrant celebration of their patron saint, St. Peter, mirroring similar festivities held simultaneously in Mumbai and Bengaluru. Approximately 50 Barkurians gathered at the residence of community president Peter Menezes in Dubai, transforming the venue into a hub of cultural celebration and community bonding.

A Day of Faith and Fellowship

Program host Allen Crasta orchestrated the event, which began with prayers led by Terrence Lewis, including the Word of God and Prayers of the Faithful. President Peter Menezes welcomed attendees, emphasizing the importance of preserving cultural traditions while strengthening community ties in their adopted homeland.

The celebration featured soulful musical performances by Patson D'Almeida, whose melodious songs captivated the audience and reflected the community's rich musical heritage. Following a traditional lunch, Lisa Andrade and Strelisha Lewis conducted an engaging round of Housie Housie that brought out the competitive spirit among participants.

The inclusive entertainment approach kept attendees engaged throughout the program, fostering unity across generations. Allen Crasta concluded the formal proceedings with a financial report and thanksgiving address, acknowledging the collective efforts that made the celebration successful.

The festivities reached their peak with an energetic Baila dance session, where participants of all ages joined in the traditional folk dance, providing a spirited conclusion to the day's events.
