Nemothsava and Kola at Hosala Garadi

By now visitors of our site are familiar with many aspects of Barkur that makes this place unique. Historical capital city of Tulunadu boast s of 365 temples along with many small other gudu gopuras. The heroes of Tulu Nadu , the twin brothers Koti Chennaya, later were called Shri Brahma Baidarkala and were worshipped all along the undivided Dakshina Kannada state.

There were initially 5 Brahama Baidarkala Garadies  at Barkur. Now only one at Hosala is existing and last Nemosthsava held here was  about 75 years back.  For reasons unknown the Nemothsava was not celebrated and this year some devotees under the able leadership of Mrs and Mr Jaru Poojari and Mrs and Mr Babu Shiva Poojari decided to have the Nemothsava and Kola.

Two days of celebrations were held recently at the Hosala Brahma Baidarkala Garadi  on a grand scale and thousands of devotees offered their prayers, participated in the Kola and Anna Santharpane held at the garadi premises.
