(Dear visitors, please tell us , how do you feel about our Q n A section...Shoot your questions to our panelists as soon as possible to keep the section vibrant and dynamic. - barkur.com team)

It is a privilege to have Pedruchi Chavi 4 times a year to commemorate 4 district occasions. As promised or so, it is better to have few pages in English too, so that the future generation is built-in with Barkurian spirit! Nevertheless a worthy work dear Father Aranaha and Editor and guild.

Vincent D'Souza, 09/07/2005

Thank you Fr. Tony for your "Independence Day" greetings, especially to all Barkurians residing in USA. That's very thoughtful of you. I personally feel, I am enjoying the best of the two countries, India and USA! The WORLD is here to stay!

It is a happy news Barkur Bridge going to be re-built. Otherday, district in charge Minister visited the site and understand he is un-happy over the manner by which local MLA Mr. Hegde performed Guddali Pooja. Please don't play politcs here, and test the patience of thousands!

MM Alvares, alvaresmm@hotmail.com, 20/06/2005

Wishes to Barkur.com team. The site is really nice, I was very happy to see the details. I even appreciate support you are giving for local MLA Jayaprakash Hegde for his great achievements in Brahmavar constituency. It’s very nice that you are giving details of all events, cultural place and everything. Its very nice site.

Zubera, 18/06/2005

Looks like the prayers for the bridge are answered, much faster than I anticipated. But we have to wait for 9 more months. (Sounds like the gestation (pregnancy) period!) It's better the bridge takes all the nine months, thus we have a full grown healthy baby bridge, if we ask for it faster, we may get a pre-mature baby bridge. We don't want a sickly bridge any more! Hope there will be a truck weighing station, fines, and charges too! Thanks to all those politicians/Leaders who can and want to KEEP promises!

All Your Prayers are Answered: By an unknown author A voyaging ship was wrecked during a storm at sea and only two of the men on it were able to swim to a small, desert-like island. The two survivors not knowing what else to do agreed that they had no other recourse than but to pray to God. However, to find out whose prayer was more powerful, they agreed to divide the territory between them and stay on opposite sides of the island.

The first thing they prayed for was food. The next morning, the first man saw a fruit-bearing tree on his side of the land, and he was able to eat its fruit. The other man's parcel of land remained barren. After a week, the first man was lonely and he decided to pray for a wife. The next day, another ship was wrecked, and the only survivor was a woman who swam to his side of the land. On the other side of the island, there was nothing.

Soon the first man prayed for a house, clothes, more food. The next day, like magic, all of these were given to him. However, the second man still had nothing. Finally, the first man prayed for a ship, so that he and his wife would leave the island. In the morning, he found a ship docked at his side of the island. The first man boarded the ship with his

wife and decided to leave the second man on the island. He considered the other man unworthy, (a disgrace to his achievement!) to receive God's blessings, since none of his prayers had been answered. As the ship was about to leave, the first man heard a voice from heaven booming, "Why are you leaving your companion on the island?" "My blessings are mine alone, since I was the one who prayed for them," The first man answered. "His prayers were all unanswered and so he does not deserve anything." "You are mistaken!" the voice rebuked him. "He had only one prayer, which I answered. If not for that, you would not have received any of my blessings." "Tell me," the first man asked the voice, "What did he pray for that I should owe him anything?" "He prayed that all your prayers be answered." For all we know, our blessings are not the fruits of our prayers alone, but those of another praying for us. This is too good not to share. With obedience come blessings. My prayer for you today is that all your prayers are answered. I do remember in Barkur, we used to pray, at home as well as in the Church (and in temples,) during the offertory, for all those who are away from home, for their good health, good jobs, and of course to remit money orders! I am sure, the present Barkurians are still praying,

otherwise; none of us would not be, what we are today! Prayers need efforts too! Thank you for your prayers for others. You can be happier, if your neighbor is happy!

You mean every 100 years? like 05/05/19--05. In about 13 months, we will have 06/06/06. In about 26 months, we will have 07/07/07! It appears we have to wait that long for someone to put a few lines in this site! People were bragging about such high quality of education. How come I don't see any writers? No time! No one has any time, We have to make time, and if we want, we can find time! Oh, you good readers, you are wasting away this unique opportunity to write to this site. You can write in Konkani, you can write in Kannada, and in English of course. Can someone write about the 'Rise of Mogaveera Community in Barkur."? after independence? I personally, admire this community, for their hard work, their Gurukar system, marriage practices, helping one another to study, find jobs, settle disputes, cooperate during birth, marriages, and at funerals. There is so much to learn from and appreciate this community, for their relentless contribution to Barkur. The Bennekudru Temple has put Barkur in the World map!

Let it not be said, that I did not give the opportunity to write about this community!

How was the bridge from Barkur to Bennekudru built? There was need, there was unity, and there was strong request, and there was pressure from local people, I suppose. I just wrote in admiration of Bennekudru people! The same needs to be applied to get the Barkur  Brahmavar bridge built. We used to go to Bombay via Madras! To go to Brahmavar, we we have to go to Kota, first, what an irony. It's like taking the food from behind my neck!

Are we turning the clock of progress, backwards? Even though, the collapse of the bridge does not affect me personally, I do feel the pain of my fellow Barkurians! No Bridge, No School! (study) No Bridge, No Church! (Mass) No bridge, No Temples! (Pooja/Prayers) No Bridge, No work! No work, No food! No Food, more sickness, More sickness, but no doctors, Because, there is no bridge! Hence, let there be bridge, and thus, life in Barkur! God Bless!

Those two set of articles one by POM himself and the other about him are of great depth. This less known person at Barkur though, is a great man in Mumbai. This is a perfect example seen with good number of Barkurian's totally leaving the place and settling else where, for various reasons. There are quite a few observations one can contradict with history, but his unparalleled love for the town where one born and grown deserve kudos. Also convey our thanks to the concerned for the timely dispatch of Parish Magazine, Pedruchi Chavi!

It is wonderful that a website is dedicated to Barkur...yet I feel there is much of self praise...Kindly abstain from praising petty politicians and their clowns Overall.. I feel the website is doing a wonderful job...you need to focus more on the Youth of Barkur rather than politicians.

Respected Sir, Dr. Poojary:

I am really happy to get some positive feed back in kudos of the host Mr. Kishoo.  I am also proud to note that you want to recommend him to be the hero of your children!  Dr. Poojary, you made my day, and Kishoo is simply  flying!

Since, you accessed this site for the first time, it's possible, that you  have not gone through the entire site. The church picture is followed by a Temple, Moodukeri, Basadi and Thattiraya of Pachalingeshwara temple in the flash movie in the front page and not just church alone. Lots of items in this forum are irrelevant to most of us, anyway.

Did you notice the beautiful pictures and the write-ups on Bennekudru Devasthana?  These pictures were personally taken by Kishoo, and he took lot of efforts to put those articles together, at his own expense/time. These were not forwarded by any person.  No doubt, he is a hero!

In fact, please give us your resume.  We are proud to hear that you are a doctor. We want to write about you, so that some youngsters may emulate you.  We need more doctors. Thank you.

Dear one and all,

Today when I am browsing in the net for some other matters, suddenly I came to know about BARKUR.COM. Its really a good thought, and memorable creative work from some one. As I left Barkur so many years back, I am not remembering persons individually. Even though I am very much interested to know about person behind this great work. Today, I searched entirely the site ,but except email id , I did  not get much. Can you publish himself in the personality of month column so that I can know more about him. And also I can advice to my children to take him as a role model and start the same kind of unique work for our native place. And one more thing what I felt is, for front page design, the church photo is not at all relevant there. As it is not having any much history behind that. Its my personal opinion. Yes, I am agreeing  no men in the world are perfect, if the host is purposefully added that, we can't do anything. Anyhow I am very much eager to know about the great host of this site. Once again very much thanks for him.

With regards

Dr.Shekar Poojary, 11/04/2005

Dear Joseph Karl:

Thank you for your kind note to this site. We would highly appreciate to read your candid observations of Barkur, as you SAW it. We rarely get observations from a third party point of view.

Dear Joseph D'Cunha:

Barkur.Com is generally publishing what they get, as in memory lane or in interviews, QA etc. Besides, it started POM to acknowledge local/Barkurians, and their accomplishments, so that they could be role models off of their good points. We wanted to show gratitude to those who had some influence on Barkur, the HOFs. Then there are Kannada or religious corners or Archie's corner. Then there are local news shouldered by Harry and others, or captured by Kishoo on his vacation days in Barkur. I did ask a farmer in Barkur, whether I can write about him. His reply was, "Want to write about my ploughing to insult me?" One Mr. Boniface Picardo let me write about his progress, as a local farmer. By the way, Barkur.com does not have any sponsors. If there were you would have seen their banners splashing in this main page! Lastly, I tried to respond some in Sandesh, since there is hardly anything to read when you log on! Should we encourage 'Gossip'? Better not, this is a public forum. Please give us some pointers on local Barkurians, we will elaborate and publish them. Thank you.

Hello Mr.Martis thank you for your feedback, but I really don’t understand some of the things you said. Your saying, "I used cheap languages". Please go through my message again. I never used any cheap language, may be I am lacking in maturity, but I never use cheap language.

EXPRESSIONS – we are proud of your name and fame.

We are very happy and overwhelmed by the news with photographs  narrating the spectacular display of talents by the Expressions Group on Easter Day, at the St.Peter’s Church grounds.

The ‘super showman of Barkur, Mr. Kishore Gonsalves’ and his team comprising Mr. Eric Soans, Mr. Praveen Carvalho, Mr. Stephen Lewis, Mr. Alwyn Andrade and many others……… rightly deserve appreciation for this wonderful show.

Confidence and Co-operation within the members and the cautious planning to showcase the best in your Members, to the audience, we specially admire in your team.

Through this small note, congratulate each one of you and send our best wishes to all concerned,  to keep and add-up to the enormous goodwill your banner earned over the past couple of years, by professional approach and hard work, in coming days, rather many years to come.

On behalf of President, Office bearers and Members ICYM Barkur Ex-Member’s Association,
