Greetings to one and all: In the year 1977 I mailed about 125 greeting cards. In 1978, about 50, and you can deduce how many cards I must have mailed this year! I phoned a friend and asked whether he received my greetings. His reply was, "My wife takes care of such chores." Do I get any respect? Sorry, I asked! Honestly speaking, my friends, sending, and especially opening greeting cards is a job, a chore, or perhaps a nuisance!

No, you don't have  to admit to my opinion! Why is it that one has to send greetings every year? It appears my wishes such as "Good health, Peace, Prosperity or wisdom, in the New year and years to come" does not seem to work! How come, not one person has thanked me for my greetings? (Nor have I!) Of course, it appears he/she has not benefited or my greetings have not realized at all!!, even though, what I wished is really is what I meant!, at least, I thought so. And then, there are those who judge the sincerity of my greetings by the cost and the quality of the card!

If it's not Hallmark, my greetings have no marks? The costlier the card, the greater the blessings? (I really don't get it!, may be because, I got a 4 year degree just last year!) A mere lip service, a formality, a chore: Sending a greeting is different from wishing! Hence, folks, may all of you be blessed with the year 2006, and may you all be granted with whatever you want/need or desire for yourself and to those who make a difference in your lives.

Unfortunately, my friends, you have earn what ever you want, whether it be money, health, peace, FAME or GLORY! "Unless the baby cries, it does not get its milk!

Dear All,

Wish you a Happy New Year – 2006. We hope Barkuronline will be more active  - with more articles, news, more personalities, more famous people, frequent updates in Tony’s  corner, Archie’s corner, more and spicy masala.... in the coming year 2006.

Wonderful job done Mr Kishoo Barkur during the past 5 years, your web pages though restrict to a small geographical area but very very systematic. If at all one have complaints - that is frequency of updates that’s all.

Latest article on JJ Fernandes as personality of the month and on Barkur feast are excellent.  Fr.Tony too keep his corner active, thanks. We really miss Mr Fernandes and his spicy, straight forward comments on varied subjects, please  come out.

Elections are over, local bodies will be formed - Is it possible to publish interviews of newly elected representatives.....and their plans for development of Barkur. There should be a programme to show them,  what is discussed, criticised  and praised.

Once again a big thanks to Kishoo Barkur and the team,  on this special moment of closing 2005 and beginning of 2006.

This refers to Dr. Gabriel Fernandes appeal for donations for worthy cause. There are good and rich in plenty in Barkur. Our friend Mr. Roche is also doing a worthy service in this field. Dr. Fernandes already done a lot and it is time to pass this message to solvent Barkurians in Mumbai and abroad by some personal communication, irrespective of caste and religion. Understand some Shetty friends running M/s Suvidha Chemicals too are contributing a lot for this noble cause. Personally I feel, personalised contacts will touch the hearts of genuine and well to do donors towards this mission.

It is good Dr. fernandes is expanding his radius further, wish you all success and confident public minded people will extend an supporting hand to you. WISH YOU ALL A HAPPY NEW YEAR 2006.
