Happy Birthday

Stalin Lobo, Muscat

Dear Stalin,

Happy Birthday and many many happy retuarns of the day.
Mom and Dad (Ophy and Simon), Muscat
Anirudh , Mareena and Kishoo Mama, Barkur. 22/07/2002.

I read this  'Have Faith' message somewhere:

The other day I was stopped by a cop for erratic driving.  My breath was analyzed for alcohol contents.  The cop asked me, "What have you been drinking?" I told  him, "Water, sir, just plain water."  "No, you have been drinking wine, the results show here." I said, "Oh My God, You did it again! You turned water into wine, a second time!"  The cop said as he handed over the ticket, "Your faith has saved thee from going to prison, however, pay this fine now, and don't drink and drive again!"

Dear Friends and organisers of Barkur Web-Site,

For the last couple of weeks, we are observing some better changes in the ‘general looks’ or frame’ of your site!

Good development, we appreciate, the creative ideas of Host, Kishoo Barkur, and all who involved in it, as you people, sincerely intend to make it like ‘a flowing water stream’! And in my opinion, one of the best Church Site in the whole Udupi District, and the set-up is a model to follow!!.

But now a days, worthy articles are missing,  [keeping a side, sandesh and news clippings,] with an exception, in ‘Down Memory lane’, up-dates and commentary on various subjects and current affairs in ‘Archie’s Corner’.

Here too, it is better, if you have weekly renewal of subjects, with a link - one line summary sheet of various topics’ in the archives, in these two segments - for our convenience and reference, as some rare visitors have no patience to search!

For me, in these days, it used to be minute’s visit, to check front home page and quit!

Unfortunately, many other sections looks dormant, some, for month’s together and hence expect proud and talented Barkurians to exhibit their writing skills here, in these segments and eagerly look for them with - writer’s small introduction, as we outsiders, may have a glimpse of their personality.

Thanks and Best wishes,

G.S.Lewis, Kallianpur, 21/07/2002,

Hi Barkur.com team,

I have noticed some new look in the home page of barkur.com . Is this the change that you have been suggesting in the website? I hope not and I hope the change that you are suggesting is yet to come, as in this new look there is nothing to welcome all Barkurians. I agree this website was developed in the church compound and may be its intended aim was to serve as a newsletter, but since this website has used the name `Barkur' on purpose or inadvertently, it has kindled the desire to communicate with fellow Barkurians all over the world and to hear about the happenings at Barkur and about fellow Barkurians who visit this website. Therefore, as promised, please make Barkur.com universal(welcome to all people of Barkur) and may be a separate section for church related news.

Thank you ,

Diana Fernandes, Mumbai, dianafernandes@hotmail.com, 19/07/02

(Our new look page is still in the designing stage , and as promised we will launch it very soon, which we believe will be pleasing to all the visitors.

Dear Divya,

Firstly let me congratulate you on becoming the Vice president ICYM. You must be surprised on how I landed on this site, we received "Pedruchi Chavi" in which we read the details, infact it was mummy who read it as you know we cannot read konkanni.
I am impressed with the effort put in to create this website, this is quite an impressive step on behalf of all Barkur parishioners for bringing Barkur on the world map and bringing all the Barkurains who are staying in various corners of India & the Globe to come closer and feel very much at home....Kudos to your entire team. I understand that this site is being hosted from the Barkur church. You have a dynamic parish priest with a lot of foresight and vision.

Now for the feedback

1) The index change between Konkanni & English legends is very fast, make it a little slower.

2) The photo gallery is good but try to relate it to your history pages. Or give give a brief history & relevance of the photograph.

Right now I have just gone thru little bit, I will send you more feedback later, give me your email id if you have one so that we can correspond.

Love,
Prashanth Pereira, Your cousin from Bombay. 13/02/2002.

CONGRATULATIONS…

Congratulation Barkurians, on being succeeded in getting Mumbai bound trains, halting at your station - forgotten as seaport of the western coast of the past, now to be catapulted, as an important railway station of the future!

Significantly, an article on this subject in this site in 'Archie's Corner', deserve accolades as it is our own experiences and timely news items here, up-dated us.

Personally bit confused and doubtful on the feasibility of later part of the article to propose / plan, of having a 'housing colony' near the station. Suggestions are very good…But…. Execution. Who bell the cat?

May we expect the parish priest and other so called leaders and entrepreneurs of Barkur or the host of this site, to throw some light take lead on this…?

If any development, pl. were kind to send details to my E-mail address, as my friends, and me bit keen…

Also, please have us details of number of seat availability or quota, booking information; ticket fares etc.in  this Train, soon in this site.

It is appropriate to mention here that Barkur, is a natural geographical center - having Brahmmavar, Sastan, Kavadi, Yadthady-Saibarakatte, Kokkarne-Mandarthi, Koorady, within the radius of 10 miles, have vast scope of improvements.

Let us appeal through this web-site, - Barkur and Yadthady Panchayat, to provide basic amenities at the railway station like water, canteen, phone, taxi and auto stand and ensure the safety and security of passengers, as Matsyaganda arrives here nighttime!

With Best Wishes,
