Folks: The message is loud and clear, from Mr. Alvares as well, that's the feed-back/response to this site is quite poor. I could not participate in Archie's 'close to his heart', 'highly constructive', and 'beneficial to Barkur', issues, because, my knowledge of Barkur is not current. I left Barkur about 40 years ago. Here is a visionary, who means and says/expresses it very well on this site. Our elders built the school brick by brick, many of us watered the school mango trees using pully and rope, and quite a few of us benefitted from it. Similarly, the issue(s) brought up by Archie deserve consideration, discussion, and eventual materialization. Why such a cold shoulder? Thanks
to Kishoo too. He must be burning lots of 'mid-nights oil’ in
updating this site practically daily, and specially for
its face-lift. Scanning and aligning those pictures/
blocks/frames/files all of which take time. Where can I
buy some 'dedication?' This request is for Vanitha Furtado, New Jersy, the creator of this 'feedback' form, or to Kishoo. If it's possible please apply spell-check to this form. Keep up the good work, and 'Thank you'. James
Fernandes
Jimtoxic@aol.com,
USA, 03/02/2002 Dear Friends in Barkur.com, With reference to the opinions of Mr. James Fernandes,
openhearted man, I write these few words. Personally I feel delighted to see your site
allocating its precious space to express ourselves. Frankly
speaking I've written two sentences to the Host to thank him for
this… and a word on his jokes…which myself and younger one's
in my family enjoy - other articles in this site are heavy
dosages for small kids to digest - but surely not to pick a hole
in someone's coat! As a third person, what I feel is for such a long
time Host Mr. Kishoo Barkur though crying from the house top or
even practically appealing for feedback in every article in the
Corner assigned to Mr Archibald Furtado, do you feel the the
reciprocation by readers of Barkurian origin far and near is
proportionate…? Or published only selected one's? Let me leave it to the visitors of this site! Thanks and regards, M.M.Alvares,
Alvaresmm@hotmail.com 2/08/
2002. Dear Mr. Alvares: Since I could not come
up with any articles to stimulate the readers' intellect nor
arouse their curiosity with originality, with mellifluous
display of literary compentence, I thought, I could spare my
'two cents' by providing a few jokes instead. Well, I had
to open a dictionary to find the meaning of the word 'snippet'.
There is always something new to learn. Thank you for
that. Now, tell me honestly "did you chuckle or not?"
Actually, it's easier for me to stop now! Thank you. Hi Kishoo & team, I feel the title of
the Column `Personality of the Month' should be aptly renamed as
`Personality of the Quarter' or better still Personality of the
Year!!. Without any disrespect meant to Mr.Carvalho, I feel the
personality should be changed after a month as the title
suggests. If there are no one to be considered for this honour,
then a message inviting some data may be placed in the column. Why not consider our
regular input provider from USA? Friends at barkur.com, Thanks a million, for
entertaining our scribbling, I'm afraid to write on any
subjects, as I admit my capital and knowledge on Barkur, really
minimum, but watching your site, with curiosity, and appreciate
the good work. Meanwhile among other
good things in this site, we enjoy snippets of Mr. James
Fernandes, too, our thanks to him, shall we have little more
dosages as they serve as 'hot chonne ' during rainy season!! Thanks. Marian

First
girl asked, "Where going?" Folks: These two, 10
or 12 year old girls, (and many more like them) in the fifties
or sixties had to leave their homes to work as domestic help in
cities to support their parents or siblings left behind in the
rural areas. (We were all blessed, not all with wealth
though..) They learned Hindi or English, in other words,
Konglish or Hinglish, the hard way. They provided
education to their children, therefore their children have
become productive citizens today. Some years ago I heard a mother say to me, "My children making makkar, for English not knowing and school not going." I do admire the perseverance and sacrifices of those mothers. James

what I will get? then society..! I also worried to note
that Matsyagandha, given stop at Barkur, for a temporary period of
three months, that too during offseason. Friends please spread the
