Beyond
lives gate
Lies
so much more than here
Mai,
you stayed a while And
created a pile of memories
That
are so dear…
You
had your purpose of living
There
was so much love you gave
You
made a world around you
And
paved a loving way …
You
suffered without a complaint
We
know it was a task to take on so much at your age
Until
you breathed your last…
We
stood there watching but could not help
Our
hearts went out to you as you looked on in silence
And
quietly slipped away,
there was nothing we could do …
If
God only could work a miracle then
You
would be with us now till our very end
But
God knew best and took you through his sparkling white gates
oh heaven
You
are in His home now, and must be fine
But
we miss you so much coz. that’s
the human mind.
‘Time
is the best healer’ they say and time would tide us
through
But
you’ll never be forgotten no matter how long life takes,
Because
“WE LOVE YOU”

Name
Barkur has derived from a historical point view of which
perhaps has a history about 2000 years. From the book 'The
land called South Kanara' by Vincent Mendonca and William
Pais’ published by Imageflex publishers, 2000.
Barkur
has its story as: Barkur a hamlet near Udupi was once
renouned capital of the region of Present Dakshina Kannada.
One version says that original name of the town was
Bara-Kanur which was later changed to Bara-Kanya-pura
which means town of twelve virgins. (Therefore we
have twelve kereys - benti kere, chouli kere, arasi kere,
mood kere, etc? Certainly this king must have come to rule
later than Christianity came to Barkur? Did he change the
name on account of conversion?) which in honour of his (who
is it?) 12 daughters. Barkur was occupied by Cholas around
11th century and later became the capital of Alupa rulers.
There are two forts, remains of which can be vaguely seen.
Barkur means Apostle of Jesus, Bartholomeu? Barkur a A
Christian name?
Christianity was born in India first in Kallianpur and
Barkur! The book reads, Christianity has been long
established in south Kanara and its adherents are more
numerous in Dakshina Kannada, than in any other district of
India. It is certain that foreign Christian merchants were
visiting the coastal town of Kanara and during that period
of commerce, some Christian priests might have occupied them
for evangelical work.
According to tradition South Kanara had its first Christian
missionary, the Apostle Bartholomew, who landed on the
shores of river Swarna at Colombian (presently called as?)
or Colombo village, an ancient maritime port, adjacent to
Kalyanpur port, in Udupi and stayed there to preach. He was
popularly called as Bethel and so the origin of the place
Barkur close to Kallianpur may be from his name; Bar +
Tulmai + Ooru = Barthooru and so Barkur. Kallianpur is
regarded as the place where Christianity entered first by
the church historians in particular.
The
Christians of south Kanara are both native who are very few
in number, and the immigrants from Goa and later the
protestants converts made by the Basel mission.
When
Christianity was proclaimed the three verna people namely
Brahmins, Kshatriya, Vaishya got converted and followed
Christianity. They had their faith expression center - Our
Lady of Miracles Church (present church and not the
structure) Kallianpur, later it was known as Milagres.

Creation
Of God
God
created the donkey and said to him.
"You
will be a donkey. You will work un-tiringly from sunrise to
sunset carrying burdens on your back. You will eat grass,
you will have no intelligence and you will live 50
years."
The
donkey answered:
"I
will be a donkey, but to live 50 years is much. Give me only
20 years" God granted his wish.
God
created the dog and said to him:
"You
will guard the house of man. You will be his best Friend.
You will eat the scraps that he gives you and you will live
30 years. You will be a dog. " The dog answered:
"Sir,
to live 30 years is too much, give me only 15 years” God
granted his wish.
God
created the monkey and said to him:
"You
will be a monkey. You will swing from branch to branch doing
tricks. You will be amusing and you will live 20 years.
" The monkey answered:
"To
live 20 years is too much, give me only 10 years." God
granted his wish. Finally God created man and said to him:
"You
will be man, the only rational creature on the face of the
earth. You will use your intelligence to become master over
all the animals. You will dominate the world and you will
live 20 years."
Man
responded:
"Sir,
I will be a man but to live only 20 years is very little,
give me the 30 years that the donkey refused, the 15 years
that the dog did not want and the 10 years the monkey
refused." God granted man's wish....
And
since then, man lives 20 years as a man, marries and spends
30 years like a donkey, working and carrying all the burdens
on his back. Then when his children are grown, he lives 15
years like a dog taking care of the house and eating
whatever is given to him, so that when he is old, he can
retire and live 10 years like a monkey, going from house to
house and from one son or daughter to another doing tricks
to amuse his grandchildren.
That's
Life.Is'nt it?
Regards
