When I was small.... small boy my sister took me to Independence day celebration at Maryknoll School. It was anxious moment for me to wait for  sweet distributions time. I was so happy to hold two chocolates in my hand. Gone are the days…but memories are still   fresh.

Congratulations Kishoo and your entire team for this beautiful website with a new look! It is really very magnanimous of you and your team to make these changes in the website to welcome all Barkurians  alike to this website, to express their feelings, to know about Barkur, etc, although it was started initially as a church bulletin.

You deserve all the praise that has been showered on you as you have  given `BARKUR' to BARKURIANS on a golden platter!

May God Bless you all........

Dear Barkur.com team Members,

It is a great pleasure to see barkur.com new page. But on top of the page could not see any pictures like before showing the church and ancient monuments. It is nice if you add some pictures on top which will give more attraction on barkur.com.

Once again wishing barkur.com team all the best.

Dear Friends in barkur.com,

At the very outset, first of all, let me congratulate Host of BARKUR WEBSITE, and his TEAM, on this special occasion of giving attractive ‘New Look Home Pages’ to this popular site and added get-up, with new segments.

In all fields, little time is required, to acquaint one selves to changed scenario, as the expectations are high and you people successfully crossed this phase, and marching with leaps & bounds, to establish yourselves, not only   as professional media-men but also, a platform to raise issues of social concern in a small, but effective way!

Secondly, the way learned men, focussing on Saint Bartholomew vis a vis the origin of name Barkur, certainly encourages us, to find more facts from the Historical archives.

During the Milagres Church Tri-centenary Celebrations, a tableau was staged titled AILO-RE- AILO, depicting the arrival of this holy man, at the shores of Canara.

I am sure copy of this play, will be available with Fr. Valerian Mendonca, the Principal of Milagres College. If convenient, please meet him, in addition to this, he may possess more facts or can guide you on reference texts, to extract more information.

Lastly, the latest up-date in ‘Archie’s Corner’, rightly deserve a word of praise, as conceiving the very concept of Ward Level Youth Association - itself, need a vision for future. I was taken aback and startled to know about 'these group of people', including the host of this website, Kishoo Barkur, who dreamt of this, way back in 80s, and now same is planned to be executed in parish / varado / diocese level, itself, - in my opinion, is an highest award for recognition’, to these founding fathers!

Take any field, there is acute scarcity of people who can think or foresee, to start something useful / new, - followers always there, but leaders are few, take example of this ‘cyber site’, I may not be wrong, if state –“ the inspiration derived from youthful / childhood years, in this Association may the driving force, to Kishoo…to launch this site…”

All ward level leaders and right thinking people, who seriously wish their children to cultivate good habits, use their spare time at right direction, should take a leaf out of this article, and encourage such programmes and personally sent a print of this, to back home, to examine the viability to have something of this pattern in my village.

Before calling a close, let me thank, friends who spoken really high about my articles, in these Messages, especially, Mr.James Fernandes / Mr.M.M.Alvares / Mr.Philip Richard and also silent readers who tolerate, though me, not belong to Barkur!

Thanks and Best wishes,

G.S.Lewis, Kallianpur, 15th August 2002.

Thanks Kishoo Barkur, and dear friends and visitors,

Me too, one of them anxiously looking for some eye-opening / educative    reviews on  St Bartholomio and the origin of name Barkur - if it is true, this place BARKUR will un-doubtedly, be one of the HOLY  place for Catholics of India!!.Is there any worthy 'monument' in honour of this Apostle of Christ, in present town.? Invitation  of Host Mr Kishoo Barkur to join the discussion, might not warm enough to awaken learned men /residents of this place.....!

One interesting development, while going through the articles of Fr.Henry, GS.Lewis and of course, quotes of Archibald Furtado, -  a layman like me, observed is  - the very name of Barkur is a shortened and trimmed  form many a times - say Baraha-kanya-pura or  Bar-thulaimi-ooru few centuries back! Let us hope, in this world of 'computer age' it will not further cut by two / three letters.....to make it........?...!!

Thanks and Best wishes,

M.M.Alvares. 12/08/2002
