UNITY HAS STRENGTH, DON’T GIVE-UP TILL IT GET DONE…!!

It is very nice to see the on-going, constructive discussion on - Interviews of Mr. Dolphy D'Lima and Mr. Devdas in this web.

It may looks ridiculous to outsiders to observe -' one of the oldest planned city as per your very introduction - doesn’t have proper network of roads, even in this 21st century…! Really this remark hurt our self-respect.

Friends, let us, jointly plead, join our hands and put pressure on these and other leaders, and make them accountable to execute these and other public utility works on war footing or come out with alternative schemes.

Personally me too one among you to feel, disgruntled,  to notice the lethargic attitude of local people. Some one rightly point-ed out in these columns -our thinking is very narrow -   'apun appnnank dev somesthank'. Let us learn to expect -  'welfare of society as a whole, instead of praying for rain only for my fields'.

Same time take this opportunity to wish our Panchayat leaders all the very best in their yeoman services and request others to extend a hand of co-operation.

Thanks and regards,

P.Archibald Furtado, 27th August, 2002,  Muscat

Hi Barkurians,

Many a times I visited, Barkur. I felt the need of Kachhur Road, to have short-cut to Church. Good you caught Panchayat leaders, on this net. Pressurise them and other so  called leaders to have this right in this year. Let this not be the case of empty vessels making sound!! Moreover in your introduction, you claimed rightly to be the inheritors of First  planned city!! Please remind this to these leaders too.

Dear Barkurians, and kind attn. of Mr.Dolphy D'Lima,

Gone through the Interview of your Panchayat leaders, and feel being a Catholic leader, it is the expectation from Mr Dolphy D'Lima, to understand the feelings of people like, Mr Ronald Fernandes. All is very well said, but not done it seems, is'nt it Mr D'Lima..?

Fine now atleast please wake-up to his call and I'm, certain, he has spoken  on behalf of hundreds, living in that area. Of course, what I feel is, these  three projects may be important one, but few other links also, to be taken up by the Panchayat.

Take it for granted -  you will be selected to be their representative for few more terms, provided you, and your fellow leaders put what you said, into reality.

All the Best,

Philiph, 26/08/2002

Hi all Barkurians, WE WISH U A HAPPY SHRI KRISHNA JANMASTAMI ON 30th AUGUST. From,

Dear Fellow Youngsters of Barkur,

As my memories go back I recall my days of Catholic Youth Movement. After coming back from the college, we used to be get-together at church premises at about 5.00pm. Those were the wonderful moments, we the youth passing our time with so many social activities, playing carom, Kabbadi at Rainey season, cricket, volley ball etc at winter and summer season, planning so many things about developing our personality. Utilizing C.Y.M Library, reading newspapers, talking with the parish priest etc.

After  7.00 pm, all the youth were going together with bicycles in a big group, passing through Harry Sequeira's shop and then straight away entering Subraya's restaurant for mouth-watering Dosas (Polle bhaji, biscuit Ambade, etc etc). It used to give us immense happiness to chat in the restaurant. And, Sunday after mass we used to go home only at about 10.00 am, and during the month of December we used to stay at church premises late until 10.00pm for our parish feast cultural programme rehearsals, busy with youth activities etc etc. In simple, we were passing our days happily. There used to be so many social and cultural activities we were proposing and planning for our youngsters to develop their personalities.

Now we are far away from our home, my guidance to our fellow youngsters of Barkur, to come forward with more and more social and cultural activities in our society. I request more and more youth of our Barkur to join ICYM, and do whatever possible to help our society. I would like to see more and more activities of our youth in this web site.

Thanks to Ms Divya Furtado for netting Mr.Devdas and Mr.Dolphy D'Lima, Barkur Panchayat President and Vice president respectively, in her interview.

Of course the answers are like typical politicians, hardly encouraging!

Regarding various roads, it is the combined responsibility of, would be beneficiaries and primarily of the leaders / representatives, to convince the donor's of land.

As in the case of Hosala-Nagermutt Road, the special feature by and large is - would be donors of land and the beneficiaries are different group of people.

Once the 'land acquisition' is over, we consider half the work is done. Cost and arranging funds comes next, as up-teen times, for the last 10 years we heard of and fed up with such promises!

It is our request to these leaders to organize a meeting of concerned people and plan something with determination.

Meanwhile promise our support and contribution whatever way possible, and looking for your initiatives at this direction as soon as possible.

On behalf of Ex-Members of AYA Nagermutt - Pandeshwar,

Ronald Fernandes. Ayabarkur@indiatimes.com 23/08/2002
