Dear visitor’s of  Barkur. Com and especially, Archie’s Corner,

We thank for your continued support and encouragement. We do understand updates are not so frequent & regular, it is certainly because of pre-occupation of Writers.

Since Mr. Archibald Furtado, who maintain fortnightly inputs, is on annual X’Mas vacation. As well aware, ICYM Silver Jubilee functions  organised on a grand scale, and A SOUVENIR is planned to co-memo rate the occasion, we invite your contributions by way of Articles if any…  this time we just  up-date, the ‘foreword’ - to the Book, written by Mr.Furtado, who also to be the Editor-in-Chief.

And yes, we are expecting a reply about the roads discussion from Mr. dolphy D'Lima , Vice President, Barkur Panchyath, and will publish the same , as soon as we receive it.

On behalf of Barkur.com.

Folks:
Please read a very powerful cute little message in Naveen's Corner about the fate of smoking or alcohol addiction. It deserves to be framed and displayed in public places.  Good job, Naveen!  Keep up.

It is a welcome move by Historical Monuments preservation authorities to bring forgotten things to light, especially of Barkur. Today, no person with high knowledge bother to study History, but dream of becoming a Doctor, Engineer or keen to embrace high paid professions.

Meantime, may be in this site or elsewhere, I read, of St.Bartholomy vis a vis the origin of name Barkur. Priests or scholars kindly enlighten us please.....?

I also personally seen and heard of this Holy man of Barkur Rev.Fr.JOSEPH D'SOUZA, and it is because of such saintly preachers, selfless sacrifices, our faith and love to Almighty, still alive and flourishes. Couple of times, he taught DOTHORN, on Sundays, but we were, very much scared to go close to him. But whenever he used to collect BRIDES FUND money on first Sunday evenings, he was totally a different person, with so much of affection and love to poor and needy girls. This FUND helped lot of girls like me. May his soul rest in peace.

Dear Friends,

Good Priests have, positive influence on youngsters and especially children learn from their behavior.

The twin messages, one by MR.JAMES and the other by MR CYPRIHEN, prove this. Let us pray Almighty to bless us with such holy men.

Thanks Austin for your kind words.  I had no idea that you could find time to surf barkur.com, after all your involvements in Lion's clubs, ICAA, Daijidubai, Kalasampat, and now lately MKCA (Mangalorean Konkany Catholic Association), etc., besides attending to your domestic needs and work.

I do have some attachments to Barkur:  As an altar boy, or in a similar capacity, I did visit practically every Barkur parishioner's house, along with Fr. Rosario who used to bless each and every house after Easter, year after year, about 200 familiies, I believe. [Bennekudru, Kachur, Nagarmata, Hosala, High school road, Halekodi, Kudru, Moodahadu village, etc.] He did not hesitate to wet or soil his feet while walking through the dry or wet fields. I have eaten from every house, sweets, tea, meals, milk, rice soup, fruits, etc. etc. I left Barkur, but Barkur has not left me. Such is the feeling of every Barkurian, I suppose. Austin, do not address me as a proud Barkurian, because, I have not paid my dues to Barkur, yet, (I guess, no one can!); however, I am proud of Barkur, and I am grateful to Barkur.  Thank you Barkur!

Dear Friends,

I was the one, anxiously looking for a favourable response from the local leaders and ICYM on ROAD PLAN to connect Kachhur - Halekody - Church.

It reminds me a childage story 'who'll bell the cat ?' Still optimistic, there will be some proud son, who really concerned about social causes and general welfare.

Let us wait and see.....

I really loved to read the writings by Mr. James Fernandes, USA.  As his friend, I always admire his ideas, thoughts and humanitarian acts.  He is one heck of a guy in helping the needy and less fortunate.  Keep up your writings James, be proud as a Barkurian!  God bless you always.
