Dear friend,
Thanks for your comments. In Barkur there is no news about this rank
holder and I have asked many people to collect the information if
possible.

Friends, on going through the Errol's message, first time I got
disappointed with the site's coverage. Before jumping to the
conclusion, and blaming the site managers, for non inclusion of a Rank
holder in the roll of honors, Mr. Errol, please send in the name, year
of passing, University and the College, to do justice to a person who
achieved such greatness in academic career, to the Host without
further delay, I want to call back a sentence in one of the articles
in Archie's corner, justice delayed is better that justice declined!

Dear Mr. Errol,
Before using such harsh language and instead of squarely blaming the
Host, Mr. Errol, you would have dispatched the "particulars of this
true achiever" To the best of my experience the words neglect &
discrimination with outstanding personalities not at all felt by me in
the coverage, of this site.
I am sure, all of our readers feel proud of fellow Barkurian's
success. One point here to be remembered, the site is browsed by
hundreds, different age-groups, to err is human, but the site always
ready to rectify if commits mistakes or omit something
important.....and do justice to all at large.
With best wishes,
Barkurgar.

Dear James,
You have understood the whole scenario wrongly. My question did not
refer to the donation made by an individual towards the charity & what
are his/her responsibility towards such donations made. But I had
asked about the donations colleted for charitable cause & its
misappropriation & so on.
In case of church most of the donations come towards a specific cause.
Be it welfare of church, construction of parish hall, repairing of the
parish ceiling etc., Even these funds does not get properly utilized.
No one pleads guilty to forgive & forget! No one comes forward to take
the lead to investigate because they might get tagged as rebellions.
Now as you rightly said ‘forgive & forget’ is learnt behavior. It is
only to preach & not for practice. If I alone get affected by the
problem, my adrenaline will shoot up to such a level, where I got to,
really struggle to restrict my animal instinct, in order bring my
senses to controllable level, so that I can adopt a sensible
survival tactic. Instead along with me two or more also suffer, I can
forget my pain !!!
Finally, No one touched ‘moral responsibility of the church’.

I am a regular reader of your column. Of late, I came across some
deliberate omission on your part. I fail to understand as to why you
have not even mentioned even one single line, leave alone felicitation
,of a university rank holder in B.Com from your parish. I read from
other sources that you wrote about laurels and high praise about other
achievers. Is it then, in your understanding this achievement any
smaller ? I remember being a student of Mangalore University and my
brother and their kids who being brilliant could only achieve a
distinction. I feel it is a failure on your part, being a good website
make me feel ill informed of this feat from your parish. With regards

(For the last week, the Q asked by Ozzie Dubai - 'public or charity
funds its utilization and accountability,' might have raised few eye

role and responsibility, I request Fr Tony, a learned priest with
Cannon Law, to enlighten us ....
Dear viewers of the web site
www.barkur.com,
These days there is an on
going discussion on our web site about the above mentioned concern of
some of our Barkurians. Vincent D'Souza mentioned my name seeking some
advice and understanding about this issue. after the consultation with
the web master Kishoo de Barkur and with his approval I am sharing
some of my experiences being the parish priest in this western part
of the world.
First of all when the parish
or any organization kick off a campaign to
raise certain amount of money for a particular cause, those funds
should be utilize for the same cause. the parish can not mix that
campaign money in to general fund. General funds are used for the day
today expenses of the parish the funds raised for certain cause
should reach to that ultimate goal that can be either to pay off the
debt of the parish or to build a community hall, or for renovation of
the church, etc., when the parishioners donate or pledge the
money for that particular cause then those funds should be utilized
for that cause only.
Secondly when parishioners
give gift to the parish as a designated gift. For example to buy the
hymn books (song books) or to by a crucifix, or for the church organ,
etc., in this case the parish administration should use those
designated gift for that particular intention of the donor unless the
donor has made an option to use those funds for the church needs in
general.
In the code of canon law, all
of those above concerns described very well. I will give you the
reference: Book V: THE TEMPORAL GOODS OF THE CHURCH
In this section of the code
of canon law please refer to this following canons. Canon:-
1254-1310, 1273-1289, 1290-1298, 1299-1310.
Hope my sharing may enlighten
some of our viewers.

Dear Ozzie:
I got the impression that your question was related to money donated
to charity, therefore, I was saying, that once I parted my money for
charity, I would not bother to question the details of its
dispersion. If misused, the culprits would pay for it in one form of
another, and I personally would not send them to hell.
However, now you are giving me a different scenario. This is not
trivial. This is business. Your money in retirement fund cannot be
looted out! This is your bread and butter, and your old age support,
(your walking stick, your eye glasses, your false teeth, your medical
bills, your kidney dialysis machine, or the cost of an organ!) In no
way I will practice my 'forgive and forget', a learnt behavior, in
this case! My true nature, that's 'survival instinct' will take over
the situation, and adrenaline will rise up! However, (by restraining
my animal nature, such as, yelling, swearing, or cursing, even though
difficult to suppress), I will succumb to every legal course possible
to recover every last penny, and to find justice as the laws would
allow/decide. If the lower courts do not dispense justice, then I
would go to higher courts. Since, I cannot afford the expenses alone,
I would help unite the other similar investors in getting our money
back.
If such company/trust/organization is 'closed down', I guess, it will
be real difficult to get any money back. I guess the shareholders or
affected people have a right to find out where the money went, or find
a way to get the money back, legally of course. The reality, as to
who wins or who loses in such cases, I will leave it to the readers
to ponder.

New design of the Home page of Barkur.com looks perfect and
professional. Good work Kishoo. Article, well written by Fr. Tony on
'Independence Day' reminds us of the celebration of Independence day
at schools, hearing a few speeches. Compliments of the Day to every
Indian. As we celebrate our 'Freedom' let us respect the freedom of
others too in our daily life. By the way I expected something on
'Assumption of Mother Mary' too, from Fr. Tony on his 'Spiritual
Corner' as we celebrate the feast on the same day of our
Independence.
