Remembrance

Louis Gonsalves

Nativity of Our Lady, Mary the Mother of Jesus; Monthi Fest: Why this is called ? Monthi Fest?? How the word Monthi is connected here? Why seven, nine or thirteen  types of vegetables are eaten on this day? Why some people do not eat meat or fish on this day? Do you think I will get more Kurpa? or ?special blessings? if I  eat just the vegetables on this day? What happens if you eat meat or fish on this  day? I guess, it is OK to serve/drink alcohol on this day?

Wishing our dearest Denis and Rubena, a very very happy wedding anniversary and many many happy returns of the day!

President, Office Bearers , Members and Hon. Members. The Expressions.

Deadly and dangerous Virus attacks might have stopped our friends to send their  reactions to barkur.com? Hope water is settling down slowly and more inputs will  follow. Lastly, DON'T OPEN ANY MAIL FROM UNIDENTIFIED SENDERS.

We are shocked and stunned by the news of bomb explosions at Gate way of India,  Mumbai this afternoon. We condemn this inhuman act, and convey our deepest sympathies to the families who lost their near and dear one's. Also pray for the speedy recovery of injured.

Dear Barkurian’s,

Me too join you, to express satisfaction at the “New Look of your popular Website – Barkur. Com” Over the past few months, constant, untiring efforts of Host and his team, kept the site not only vibrant but also informative / attractive now more interactive.

One more section added in these days i.e. Questions and Answers; surely have the potential of making unique feature of this site. Much depends upon visitors enthusiasm especially those who take initiative to send-in their doubts and queries, both personal and general, in days to come. The Answering Panel maintained its dignity and patience intact while handling diversified issues. Congratulations!

Since the introduction of the segment, I was keen to despatch few of my Questions to the learned Panel Members, for a reason or the other, or simply lazy attitudes of mine, took me a long time to join down those points somewhere, hence lost them!

THE FOLLOWING ARE JUST FEW OF THEM:

A)     What are the yardsticks generally guide or decide to feature a person as Personality of the Month? Why not even a single woman not recognised or not qualified for these laurels so far in two years?

B)     Many a times the reference of St. Bartholomew the Apostle vis-à-vis the origin of name Barkur was made in this site. Are there any plans to preserve this legend for the future, especially at this historical place?

C)     In your opinion, do you feel it feasible to bring out Mai bhas .com articles in a book format, say as a monthly magazine? (Barkur.com confined to a town hence I feel not economical, but can be incorporated as a parish paper like ‘Milarchin Laaran’)

D)     As the messages in your site increasing with high speed, is it possible to segregate them into two as complimentary notes and debatable viewpoints?

G.S.Lewis, Kallianpur, 19/03/2003.

Dear readers:

There are thousands of people from BARKUR in colleges, universities, hospitals, banks, seminaries, convents, temples, (none in prisons though), politics, or in farming, in different professions, settled in different cities in India, and abroad, with their children, and grand or great grand children, with high academic/monetary/intellectual/political achievements, or, serving the poor, rich, sick, old, young, or invalid ones.  Any reader of this site is quite capable to comprehend that Kishoo or his miniscule team, are in no way are capable to know all these people on their own, unless someone brings such great events to their attention for recognition in Barkur.com.  While I understand that people deserve recognition, (provided the team is aware of it), what I don't understand is barkur.com does not deserve such accusation that they deliberately ignored certain recognitions. They have no means, nor manpower, to keep track of 'who is who', and who is on his way to this earth, heaven or hell.  The host of this site has clearly invited recommendations from any one for POM, any news, articles, comments etc.  Folks, he is doing this, by spending his precious personal time, patience, and his own money, while working 12 hour shift in the middle east.   There were 2-3 such comments, that Barkur.com failed to recognize some persons, however, when asked to furnish some data, the team gets no response.  Kishoo is not omniscient, omnipotent, nor omnipresent! Nor does he know to act like one!

Let us not de-motivate barkur.com team’s  spirit of maintaining this site in "Netting the Barkurians from all over the world," irrespective of caste, gender, creed, breed, or bank balance.

Thank you Rev.Fr.Tony for u'r quick and timely response to our request. I presume, our readers too fairly satisfied. But don't know, Mr Ozzie, Dubai still have doubts, as I do have!

Vincent D'Souza, 19/08/2003

With regret, we have to admit, few not deliberately and most of them intentionally CHEAT innocent. Nagarika Vedike and Social Organisations, Temple and Church leaders have to educate public. But as someone observed we 'believe people with sweet tongue easily and fall in the well, seen at daylight'. I'm also victim of such NAYA-VANCHAKARU. The two issues raised by Ozzie and that followed of Archie, are the two sides of same coin, sending the message - 'buyer's beware'
