This refers to your latest update in Archie's
Corner - fine everything ok and
well read, developments are there, no-one
ignore the facts and they are most welcome.
But, "new tar roads at Barkur"...! Where are
they....? Till now, u'r widely publicised ring Road showing no signs
of even survey to start with...... May be Archie has seen Brahmmavar
and misquoted as Barkur!? or We might not travelled through those
invisible
Tar Road!

Nice pictures of Cribs in Barkur. It reminded
me my youth days in Mangalore spending all that time, energy and money
to compete for Crib Competition.

That historic sunset photograph scene, shot
from the bridge, brings memories indeed. During the construction of
the Mabhukal bridge there was rumor that a human sacrifice had to be
made prior to its public use. There were discussions that the
sacrificial object had to be a boy, preferably of a certain superior
caste. In order to reveal my caste, I did buy some extra cheap
aluminum crosses during the annual St. Peter's feast, which I wore
around my neck with a red thread! Mass hysteria? No boys were
missing though! Later on I came to know that such rumor was spread
to keep the children away from the construction site for safety
reasons! Similarly there were certain spots infested by Bhootha, used
for illicit distillation!
Kishoo, keep up with your creative lures!
More fish can be caught with
appropriate baits!

You
really brought back my good old memories when I looked at the "SUNSET"
scene. Before the existence of this bridge we Barkurians used to
cross the river by small boat upto the middle, where a small kudru
divided the two rivers, then cross or most of the time walked through
the shallow waters to cross over to Brahmavar as the river was not
that deep. The construction of this bridge literally erased from our
memory the time we wasted waiting for the boat to arrive from other
end of the river and made the conveyance so easy that we can reach
Brahmavar within NO time.
It
would have been very nice if you could have given the "SUNRISE" scene
from the same bridge focusing your camera towards Kokkarne, to welcome
the Year 2004, which I believe will bring Peace, Happiness and above
all, true understanding between all communities and religions of the
world. God bless you all and please await eagerly to receive the above
blessings in this New Year. God's time is perfect and He will bless
you and your family in His own time.

Dear Friend,
I
said a paryer for you today, And know God must have heard ,I felt the
answer in my heart, Although He spoke no word.
I
didn't ask for wealth or fame ,I knew you wouldn't mind,I asked Him to
send treasures of far more lasting kind
I
asked that He'd be near you,At the start of each new day, to grant you
health and blessings and friends to share your way.
I
asked for happiness for you ,In all things great and small ,But it was
for His loving care I prayed for most of all for this new year.
Yes
life is a garden, good friends are the flowers, and times spent
together life's happiest hours....... And friendship, like flowers,
blooms ever more fair when carefully tended, by dear friends who care.
Hey, FOR THIS NEW YEAR 2004, MAY YOU HAVE
Enough happiness to keep you sweet, Enough trails to keep you strong,
Enough sorrow to keep you human, Enough hope to keep you happy; Enough
failure to keep you humble, Enough success to keep you eager, Enough
friends to give you comfort, enough wealth to meet your needs, Enough
enthusiasm to look forward, enough faith to banish depression, enough
determination to make each day better than yesterday.
Thanks for what you have been to me for 2003, now lets hop and enjoy
the 2004.
Your friend,
Enry.

Richard: Honeymoon does not last throughout the
marriage. New year resolutions last just a few days or weeks. But,
yet, Kishoo has kept up the Barkur.com, irrespective of some storms.
(new site). The sunset picture taken from Barkur bridge by Kishoo, is
actually a sunrise in
USA!
And vice versa. In other words, there is hope everywhere.
Thank God, we are blessed with time, there is
plenty of time in the year 2004. Each one of us is given the same
year, not one second less nor more. The deer is given the same year, so
is the snail. But the snail seems tohave a lot of time! Time is
something "We have to make it." To 'make time' we must have
willingness, and the spirit of charity (mayamog) towards a common
goal.
My personal view is to catch fish, and let
others fish too!! Thanks guys!
