(Dear visitors, please tell us , how do you feel about our Q n A section...Shoot your questions to our panelists as soon as possible to keep the section vibrant and dynamic. - barkur.com team)

The site design is very good. Certain pages and categories gives special insight of native place, few articles just updated likely to be used as reference texts, few of your writers also great. Best of Luck.

Robert W.S.Fernandes. 19/02/2004

Sir, Thanks for considering my mail. I came across Barkur.com by chance. I am from Milagres  college and see lots of progress in that college especially the History that is created by bagging three ranks in Mangalore university.I also liked your article in barkur masala. We are a great community and your site is really helping it discover itself.

John Serrao, Safat Plaza, Kuwait, 19/02/2004

Mr. Serrao: I really appreciate your 'not just healthy,' but very important feedback. As we have said before, we rely on information made available to us. I certainly agree with you that hundreds of talents are out there. We have no way of knowing who they are.

If a tree falls in the middle of Amazon jungle, and no one saw it, it does not mean that the tree did not fall. It means no one knows about it. Similarly, right now, no one knows about such talented persons. Kishoo has no means to walk thru the jungle. If the tree were to fall on Kishoo or Me, we would have reported in seconds!

How can there be bias, if we do not know about them? I do not think, Kishoo has turned down any information. If Kishoo was biased in any way, he would not have put your feedback  in Sandesh. So Mr. Serrao, please help us. Thank you.

I was stunned after reading your message Mr James Fernandes USA. I cant even imagine, what all obstacles Dr Austin faced in this span of  life to reach such a level. I strongly believe in, that every obstacle is an opportunity to develop  will power. The encouragement and moral support of his wife and children also measures him to reach this height.

Those who send the sarcastic emails, are definitely afraid from the popularity of mangalorean.com. They are jealousy people. They neither support, nor allow others to support. Only those coward people are doing such things. ( pretty human error ) Just ignore them!!

Lent is approaching. Pray for those and say " Lord forgive them, for they don't know what they are doing ". Forgiving sets us above them!

Jessie D'Cruz, Kuwait , 19/02/2004

You spelled it rightly dear Mr Poojary... short and to the point observation!!

Vincent D'Souza, 19/02/2004

Suggestions are worthy of consideration and happy that you answered who will bell the cat too. As Archie written, Eric Sons is a clever editor, his team also may be supporting him, in his work. Now he can take a break - some responsibility is taken over by Muscat friends - is it only monetary support?

M.M.Alvares, 19/02/2004

'Better late than never', there are people concerned of their natives - especially to  strenghten Pedruchi Chavi. The suggestions are welcome and hope Fr.Sylvester respond  to it soon, I was given to understand. Muscat based Barkurian's you have shown a way to others to follow. Men like me wait enthusiastically for a "Thick Chavi" in June.

It is better you declare the Editorial Team, if planned, well in advance.I was  informed by sources that there are very good Barkurian writers in Konkani now in Muscat. Please give them an opportunity and us to cherish them.....! All the best.....!

Felciana D'Silva, Kuwait. 19/02/2004

Well written article on a deserved person, Mr. Rao. Let it find a place on the Walls of National Junior College. Hope such articles appear in book format soon!

Barkurgaar. 17/02/2004

Thank you Jessie D’Cruz for acknowledging a little article on leadership involving Austin.  This skinny little fellow was placed on the altar, when he rallied against Thyagi movement, by the clergy, for the benefit of the Church. The very same church/clergy used judicial discourse (law suits) against him when he made slight judgmental error in his Pakshikere affair, which was practically a set-up, at the cost of Austin. (Where I come from, we don’t go to police or to courts to solve any disputes, (Like, “Teacher, Mary is pinching me!), we solve and shake hands amongst ourselves!)  The all-forgiving church could have solved the issue without harassing a helpless, penniless, almost a teenager!  Believe it or not, the lawyer who handled the case in Bombay was from Barkur, D’Lima, who managed to settle the issue outside the court!  (There were educated ones in Barkur too, those days!) But Austin stood, not just like a diamond from the sea, but a mighty rock made up of diamonds, withstanding the poundings he gets from the 60 foot waves at 150 miles an hour.  As you can see he is a survivor in his own rights.  He is a lone ranger.  I really wonder, how much of support George Fernandes got from the Church or from the churchgoers!  However, now that he is almost at the pinnacle, why not support him now?  “George, Go for it, George, be our President, You can do it!”  e is lone rangerThe interview article, was mostly academic in nature, however, I nudged him a little to spit out a few of his bottled emotions.

I am glad, it got your attention.  I had submitted the same article to Mangalorean.com, but from my sources, I understand, that they may not publish it, because, manglorean.com is getting sarcastic e-mails, that manglorean.com is only promoting Prabhu family.  Another example of crab mentality.  I just want to ask this question, “Austin had no choice to chose his relatives!”     One more feather in Austin’s cap, does not add any more weight, as far as Austin is concerned!

Thank you Jessie, for making me to write these lines!

PEDRUCHI CHAVI

It is worthy to appreciate the efforts of Parish Priest to publish Pedruchi Chavi Four times in a year.

Eric Soans at the helm, being the Editor, duly supported by the Editorial Team, making every effort to improve issue after issue, with a touch of professionalism, deserve praises.

Few of us in Muscat touched by the Vicar’s appeal published in the latest SPA Mumbai special - Dec. issue.

Though we cannot solve the problem overnight, feel the following suggestions may be considered in this direction, to improve the financial situation:

We the Muscat based Barkurian’s happy to sponsor June – 2004 issue by collecting approximately Rs.15, 000/=

As there are Eight Wards, plan to bring out a ‘special issue highlighting that ward’ and its people. Say allocate some 10-12 pages. In other words, in a routine, once in two years, every ward will be focussed, in a very special way. People working outside and abroad hailing from respective ward may not mind donating little money for this genuine cause. In case one single ward hesitates to shoulder this responsibility, then two such wards may join hands. In our opinion all wards are equally competent and resourceful!

It must be noted; all other regular features will be there as usual.

If Nagermutt Ward leader’s ready and willing and Editorial Team agrees, to dedicate December 2004 issue, we will extend full co-operation to make it a success.

Moreover, there are group of individuals or Associations affiliated to our Parish, they may take lead in contributing for any issue, pages etc.

What is important is, this well organised Parish Bulletin must not be stopped due to financial constrains.

On hearing from your side, come back on the arrangements and write-ups to be incorporated in the “Chavi – June 2004 - Muscat Special”

On behalf of Barkurgar in Muscat.

The hype created by media savvy BJP, by projecting Shri AB Vajapyee may or may not yield expected results. If NDA forms next Govt then development will get impetus, and that is true with any party. See when party like BJP can put back emotive issues, prefering economic progress, for others it is very easy, to follow the same. Electorate is now educated enough to understand the gimmicks of Political outfits - name it anything! In a democracy there should be sensible and sensitive opposition!! Congress at the moment have this responsibility and if Mrs Sonia Gandhi decides to declare as if she is not in the run up for PM's post, it is very good but then whom to project? Instead, if one imagine a scenario, without Vajpaye and if Advani be the PM's candidate, then Congress will get more seats. At the moment Vajpayee's name / reputation, is a big head ache to Congress, now to counter this it has an option - to opt for negative propaganda like focussing Vajpayee's AGE, Health and expose coterie of communal leaders, like Modi, Uma, Joshi etc effectively. In general all party's have good and bad people, Congress is less harmful, to keep the nation Secular!!

Sir,

I admire the work of barkur.com, however, I feel it is biased to some extent especially, it is not conducting research to highlight real talents . Please consider this as an healthy feed back. I still remain  and wish you all the best,

John Serrao, Safat Plaza, Kuwait. 17/02/2004

Thank you James Fernandes USA, for searching the diamond from the mighty ocean. Your interview with Dr Austin D'Souza Prabhu is coving a vast knowledge of true leadership qualities. Nowadays it is really difficult to find such type of Leaders.

All the best to barkuronline. You haven't limited your website only for Barkurians, but also to all Mangaloreans. Thanks for your generosity !!

Jessie D'Cruz, Kuwait, 15/02/2004

Dear Mr Vincent, If you put this way say " if BJP projects anyone other than AB Vajpayee as PM candidate, it will get less than 100 seats and NDA in total will not cross 200. On an average Vajpaye factor tilt the balance in favour of NDA. On the other hand, if Sonia Gandhi declares "I will be happy to be the President of Congress and elected M.P's of the party then chooses its leader" - this statement will bring, projected  100-125, another addition of 50 - 75 seats to a commanding 180 total strngth. Then with the support of secular parties congress may form the next Government. But as on today, BJP and its NDA is the front runner, because of Vajpayee at the top, at the cost of Congress not realising the emotive issue of foreign origin and dearth of Class 2 leaders! The picture yet to be clear, once candidates and Election Commission come out with notification.

M.M.Alvares. 15/02/2004

In the coming national Elections, "BJP minus A.B.Vajpayee is surely Zero, Congress minus Sonia Gandhi may be Hero"! Any comments please....!

GOOD NEWS TO CORPORATION BANK ACCOUNT HOLDERS AT BARKUR AND BRAHMMAVAR. Today, an ATM facility Counter got inaugurated at Ruchira Complex Brahmmavar. Managers of both the branches, at Heradi - Barkur and Brahmmavar, were very happy to offer this facility. Hope very soon our Barkur too will have a ATM Counter.

Secretary, AYA Nagermutt - Barkur.

Its a pleasure that I have an access to Barkur through this web world. Greetings to all who developed this site, its really good. Wish you all a happy new year 2004.

Soares Clyde Peter, P.O. Box 4685 Salmiya 22047, Kuwait.

It is unclear till now who is at which side - based on print media, Mr. Vinay Kumar Sorake and Mrs. Manorama Madwaraj are the likely candidates from Congress and BJP respectively, from Udupi Loksabha Seat. Mr.Jayaprakash Hegde will likely to contest from Brahmmavar or Kundapur assembly seat on JD ticket or as an independent. Scores of names heard from Congress including Mr. Basavaraj and Mrs. Sarasu Bangera etc. BJP too finalised the name but waiting CM Mr. S.M. Krishna to recommend dissolution of the Assembly. It is expected the simultaneous elections 2004 are fought on development flank than emotive communal hype, is a positive sign. Soon the clear picture emerges, will give our readers, who are in the final fray. Thank you.

M.M.Alvares - 02/02/2004

Amchin Firgarz Festan, composed by Shri Wilfy Rebimbus must be heard, to get an insight into the Parish Feasts celebrated in almost all parishes of Mangalore Diocese. These are the unique occasions, otherwise busy self centered world, to spend little time with friends and relatives.
