Some mouths got shut for the time being like those of Mahajan, Shusma, Fernandes, Advani, Jaitly etc. Congress should not be carried away by un-expected triumph at the hustings.

Sonia Gandhi must take Karunanidhi, Jyotibasu, Pawar and of course Laloo and Paswan to  join the New Govt. It is better to woo SP and BSP in the Ministry, if she expects a  Secular, Strong and Stable five year rule at Centre. Coming to K'taka, it is better to  cobble a Maharastra type coalition of secular forces, Siddaramaiyya to be tipped for  CM's post and Dy.CM to Dharma Singh or Kharge. Bangarappa was made to eat humble pie though won from Shimogga, by not being near to power!! May be thinking if would have  been in Congress would have been a Cabinet Minister in Gandhi's Govt. Though in  Coastal-DK Udupi, N.Kanara, BJP sweeped polls, 'no near to power situation' is a great upset to that party. Hants-off to Jaya Prakash Hegde, for retaining Brahmmavar Seat intact,  against all odds!! In totality, the Voter is the Winner, he has given mixed bag of feelings  to all parties, but never tolerated high handedness any party may it be AIADMK in TN, TDP in AP, BJP in Gujarath,  or negligence of rural areas by Congress  in K'taka. As I've aired my feelings in this column, AB.Vajpayee, is the happiest person, after the verdict as he has tired man , a good man in a wrong Party, a common man even now had a soft corner for him, a Big Thank You for Him to keep the NDA a tolerable outfit in Indian polity.

We congratulate Mr K. Jayaprakash Hegde, on being elected as our MLA for the consecutive third time, with record margin of, over 13000 popular votes. We wish and pray to Almighty, to give him good health to execute, all what he promised to develop this constituency a model one in our Karnataka State.

The movie the Passion of Christ, aroused great passion among Mumbai-kars as big lines at Regal Cinema at Colaba and heavy bookings for weeks is witnessed. The Popes remark 'it is as it was' is 100% true once you're out of Cinema Hall.

We have not been receiving the copy of "Pedruchi Chaavi" right from the beginning. We had personally provided our mailing address to the Parish Priest. Kindly arrange to send the future issues to our  address.

I am happy to hear Pedruchi Chavi Easter issue is out, but un-happy that still not received my copy. Hope Editor make note of it and organise timely dispatch of same.

Excavation news and photos are good, hope more about old Barkur will be un-earthed in coming days, other news items and latest happenings here need more frequency if possible!

Bhaskar L.Poojary, Mumbai, 10/05/2004

Andrade Brothers now-a-days keeping the site live by their regular inputs, thank u both. It is better if an article be published on 'Sarai Kuditha' to highlight its worst effects in Kannada. Excavation work still need more focus to get attention of all history lovers; in these days we seldom find anything to highlight History of Barkur.

Elections are at its last leg. Now calculations start, alliances formed, luring horse trading etc with solo-aim - how to come to power, say to be in ruling front. I feel it disgusting to read in papers that percentage of voting has come down alarmingly say around 50%. Is our Democracy is bored with Politicians or this lukewarm response is sheer negligence by our citizens? Any comments readers?

How about having a classifieds section in this website like matrimonial, obituary, property for sale, etc.

Lowell Sequeira , 06/05/2004

Excellent article by Ronald Andrade on Cobra Bites, except for the fact that the little girl died, inspite of the modern transportations, roads, or hospitals. Hope someone could translate this aricle in Konkanni or English! Thanks Ronie.

Dear Mrs. Jessie D'Cruz: We did not hear your feedback on the answers to your questions found in this site. Your frank opinions from the heart and mind are solicited. We cannot make the Sun rise from West. However, if we re-name the Directions, from East to West, then the sun can rise from the West! Thank you!

Special articles section

These days we read wonderful articles in the special article section of the web site. Thanks to the writers. The Kannada article on "havu kaditha" by Ronald Andrade of Allina Lab, Sastan is very good. The example he gave of a death of a child in Nagarmutta  village due to cobra bite is heartbreaking. May god inspire many more Barkurians to write good articles to our web site www.barkuronline.com.
