My primary education was in Barkur. In 1980 I joined the seminary to become priest and was ordained to the Holy Order of priesthood on the 19th of December, 1992. I served a short period of time in Bangalore (India) and then went to the USA to serve in the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis in the state of Minnesota. Presently I am the parish priest of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church located in St. Paul, Minnesota (visit our web site:- www.stthomasap.org).

I Hope and pray this column "Spiritual Corner" will inspire many viewers of our Barkur.com web site. As all of us know the need of spirituality in our daily life. We walk our faith journey trusting in God our creator and we are certain one day we will meet our creator God in Heaven. Meanwhile here on earth we need good insights to enlighten our minds and hearts in our spiritual life. in this column I will write articles which will be short and precise that may help our interested viewers to reflect on their own spirituality. I welcome others also to share their articles and reflections. This column is open to all the faith denominations. What is important is that we inspire each other on our own spiritual journey.

My sincere thanks to Kishoo de Barkur, the designer of this beautiful web site, and for giving me this opportunity to share my thoughts and reflection on our Barkur.com web site.

REJOICE IN THIS EASTER SEASON.

Easter season is one of the beautiful seasons of our liturgical year. every year Christians around the world  celebrate  this important feast of the church and we remember and relive the key element of our Christian faith, the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.

We have spend  5 weeks of Lent fasting, praying, almsgiving and sharing Gospel stories. During the recent days of the triduum, that is Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Holy Saturday  many of you have joined with your church community and  recalled the story of Jesus suffering and death, and rejoiced in our new life in the Easter vigil. It is hard to understand resurrection if we have not come to grips with suffering that of Jesus and our own.

As Christians, we believe that Jesus triumph over death is the promise of resurrection for all of us. We , too will experience new life. Our lives will forever be affected by the mysteries we celebrate on Easter. Our journey from the cross to new life has been blessed and enhanced by each other. We journey together as a people. But the journey has not ended. The Easter Season continues for six weeks.

What St.Paul wrote to Romans twenty years after Jesus resurrection is still a life- giving promise to us twenty centuries later: " If we have been united to Him through the likeness to His death, so shall we be through the  likeness to his resurrection… through baptism into His death, we were buried with him so that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might live a new life".

It is in this spirit of the new life we share with Jesus that I , and our entire parish community  wish each of you the viewers of the web site www.barkuronline.com  and your loved ones, a very blessed and happy Easter!.

Fr. Tony Andrade.
