BARKUR, October 29, 2024. Lions Club Barkur organized a comprehensive free medical check-up camp at National Higher Primary School Hanehalli, marking a significant community health initiative. The camp successfully provided essential health screening services and education to over 100 community members.
The event commenced with an informative stage program where Mrs. Yashasvini, Community Health Officer of Hanehalli Barkur, delivered valuable insights on lifestyle modifications for individuals at risk of hypertension. The medical camp offered various free services including:
- Blood pressure screening
- Blood sugar testing for diabetes
- General health consultations
- Health awareness counseling
- Lifestyle modification guidance
Distinguished attendees included, Mr. Shrinivasa Shetty, President, Lions Club Barkur, Mr. Ashok Kumar Shetty, Secretary, The Barkur Educational Society, Mr. Archibald Furtado, Administrative Coordinator, National Educational Institutions, Mrs. Jyothi Shetty, Treasurer, National Old Students Association, and Mr. Sadashiva Shetty.
The camp drew participation from various segments of the community, including men, women, and senior citizens. Medical professionals from local hospitals and clinics, along with dedicated volunteers, provided their services throughout the event. Participants received educational materials, including informative leaflets about diabetes management through diet and exercise. Cases requiring additional medical attention were referred for appropriate follow-up care.
Mr. Udayakumar Shetty, Head Master of National Primary School and Secretary of the Lions Club, extended his gratitude to the participating doctors, volunteers, and sponsors for their invaluable contribution to the camp's success. The school staff and Lions Club members actively supported the initiative throughout its duration.
