As informed by our regular visitor Mr.Deepak Shetty of Toyota,
Japan, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, Bangalore has opened Toyota
Technical Training Institute near in its campus in Bidadi
Bangalore. Its 3 year course after SSLC.
Selection Criteria: Candidate should pass SSLC with minimum first
class (last year cut off was 65%), should be from Rural area and
with poor financial background. Please note that company person
will visit candidate’s house and confirm the background.
Accommodation, Food and other academic requirement will be borne
by Toyota. So, its almost free. Also most of the candidates will
be given job in Toyota after completion of course. So, no need for
searching job after competition of course.
Its a global level Training Institute by Toyota and first time
Toyota opened such institute outside Japan.
Soon we will give more details to both the highs schools at Barkur.

Vijaya Koteshwara lifts MYS Hills Trophy
Bennekudru Mogaveera Youvaka Sangha (MYS) which celebrates its
silver jubilee this year organized Hills Trophy Flood Light Inter
District Cricket Tournament at the Simhasana Gudde recently and
the Team Vijaya Koteshwara bagged the trophy by defeating the
Team Omkar Koteshwara in the sensational finals.
The tournament was inaugurated by B. Shantharam Shetty by batting
against the bowling of Staney Pais the famous entrepreneur from
Barkur. Later at the end of the tournament B.M. Krishna, Rathnakar
Shetty, President Rotary Barkur, B.Sudhakar Rao, Udaya B,
Development Officer, LIC, Brahamavara, Rudolph D’Souza and
Gokuldas Kamath were present on the stage as chief guests.
Shrinivasa Shettigar of Ranganakeri Shettigar Industries presented
the prizes to the winners.
Basava Madivala who retired recently after a long service at
postal department was felicitated at this juncture. Ananda Mendon
was provided with financial assistance.
Sathish Amin, President , Mogaveera Youvaka Sangha welcomed and
introduced the dignitaries. Prashanth proposed the vote of thanks
and Prakash Hebbar conducted the proceedings.
The day of the aged celebrated at Barkur
The elderly people at Barkur had a reason to smile and celebrate
as it was their day. Parish council of St.Peter’s church jointly
with ICYM celebrated the day of aged people at Barkur Church on 11th
May. About 60 elderly people from the Barkur parish gathered at
the church premises for the high mass concelebrated by Rev.Fr.
Remigeous Aranha and Rev.Fr.Ivan D’Almeida.
The function after the mass was conducted by Manoj D’Lima, the
dynamic president of ICYM Barkur. Once Herald D Souza, Vice
President of the parish council welcomed the gathering Manoj took
over the programme on his shoulders and managed it in professional
way with his witty humour and on spot quiz and games which kept
all the elders gathered entertained and gave them a nostalgia of
the era that’s gone by. Lancer and Patson enacted some humorous
skits.
Irene Pais, Secretary of the council proposed the vote of thanks
and Fr.Ivan D Almeida expressed his thoughts on organizing such
events.
Fr. Remigeous Aranha who completed 35 years of priest hood and
Fr.Ivan D Almeida who is celebrating 10th anniversary
of his ordination were felicitated on behalf of parishioners.
All the elders were presented with gifts and mementos and the day
was concluded with a fellowship meal enjoyed by all.
English Medium High
School in Barkur hits hatrick
Vidyesha Vidyamanya
National English Medium School , Herdai Barkur repeated the 100%
result in the SSLC for the last 3 consecutive years achieving the
hatrick. All the 45 students of the 10th standard
secured first class and 14 of them managed to pass in distinction
thus creating a sort of record in the region.

Nagarmutt ward day celebrated
The feast of St Thomas, the apostle was celebrated at Nagarmat
ward recently at the residence of former Gurkaar Mr Baptist
D’Souza.
Rev Fr Remezious Aranha, presided over the function. Sr Irene
Noronha of MHPS, Gerald Gonsalves were the guests along with
Herald D’Souza, Vice President of the Parish Council and Zita
Fernandes were on the stage.
Ward leader Zita welcomed the gathering. Herald D’Souza gave a
brief description of work done by the Gurkarn and other council
members and groups. Rony Andrade briefed on the importance of the
day and Sr Irene congratulated the prize winners and praised the
efforts taken by all members to make the day successful one.
Baptist D’Souza and Gerald Gonsalves were felicitated by Zita
Fernandes. Gerald Gonsalves, CAPCELL advisor spoke on importance
of the programme and its importance for the future of the younger
generation.
Later parish priest spoke about the unity of the ward members,
which helped to arrange such good programme. Brigit Gonsalves
conducted games for children and youth. Chidren and youngsters of
the ward presented a cultural programme. Nisha Fernandes proposed
the vote of thanks. The programme concluded with a Eucharistic
celebration and sumptuous lunch prepared jointly by the people of
the ward, served with love.
