Floods create havoc in and around Barkur

While intermittent rains continue to drench Barkur and the neighboring regions, flood situation is improving. The farmers are busy visiting the rain-ravaged areas and assessing the damages.

SPA  Annual Get-together celebrated with much fanfare, 'The Expressions' enthralls  Metro audience

St.Peter's Association (Barkur) Mumbai, a prominent association in Mumbai  celebrated the Annual Patron's Feast of St.Peter on 12th July at Andheri, Mumbai.

A thanksgiving Holy Mass was offered at Holy Family Church, Chakala, Andheri (East), at 9.30 am on Sunday. 

 
 
 

The annual general body meeting (AGM) was held immediately after the mass at Holy Family High School, Chakala, Andheri (East) at 10.30 am followed by a brief stage programme. Prominent Konkani singers from Mumbai, Henry D'Souza and Victor Concesao were the chief guests along with Lawrence Coelho, Editor, Divo Konkani weekly, Prof.Rajashekhar Hebbar, Principal, Smt.Rukmini Shedthi Memorial National Govt First  Grade College, Barkur were accompanied by Richard Carvalho, President, Ivan Rebello, Honorary General Secretary, Norbert Menezes, Peter Furtado, Vice Presidents, and Felix Barnes, Former President on the stage.

Ivan Rebello, Honorary General Secretary presented the annual report of the association and revealed the future plans. The WebPages of the  association, a new section in www.barkuronline.com were unveiled by president Richard Carvalho. Lawrence Coelho, Editor, Divo Konkani weekly delivered a message on behalf of all the guests present on the stage. Richard Carvalho welcomed the gathering in the beginning and Ivan Suares, Joint Secretary proposed the vote of thanks. Joylan Fernandes, committee member conducted the proceedings.

The Expressions a group of like minded people formed to promote talents, and name synonymous with  quality entertainment, operating from Barkur, was invited by SPA to join the celebrations. A team of 14 members of The Expressions, presented a entertainment programme with soulful melodies by Eric, Praveen, Jasmine and others and rib tickling skits enacted by veteran comedians Alwyn, Prakash Shetty and the group kept the audience glued to the seat for next two hours.

The programme ended with sumptuous fellowship lunch shared by all the members and the guests.

Foundation Stone Laid for ‘Siddarth Enclave’ in Brahmavar

After the overwhelming response to their maiden project, the first ever Apartment Complex of Brahmavar, Siddartha Residency, an apartment complex consisting of 30 flats and one Pent House, its promoters Sri Laxmi Constructions are all set to launch their second project Siddartha Enclave yet another apartment complex With all modern amenities like Vitrified Tile Flooring, Designer Main Doors with Teak/Rose Wood finish, Marble/Granite flooring for all the common areas etc, at the heart of the town. Shankar Poojary welcomed the gathering.  Uday Shetty proposed vote of thanks.  Jnanavasanth Shetty compered the programme.
