Rotary Club and Syndicate Bank participate in the Vanamahotsava programme

Rotary Club, Barkur and Syndicate Bank Barkur  jointly organised the Vanamahotsava Programme. The function started with planting of Teak seedlings by the Regional Manager Sri P S Nayak. Mr. Bhojaraj Shetty, President, Rotary club welcomed the gathering. Mr. B M Bhat, Asst. Governor, Rotary  Dist. 3180, Mr. Vittal Shetty, Rotary Zonal Lieutenant and Mr. Annappa Hegde were the chief guests. About 500 seedlings of good varieties were distributed to the invitees. The programme was co-coordinated by Mr. Sudhakar Rao, Head Master, NHP School.

Mr. Rathnakar Udyavar proposed vote of thanks. Mr. Ganesh Hegde, Manager, RDC, Syndicate Bank, RO, Udupi gave brief details of various loan schemes including SyndNivas, SyndVidya and SKCC Schemes.

Awareness Camp for Sthree Shakthi Groups

Syndicate Bank organised awareness camp for the members of Sthree Shakthi Groups at National Higher Primary School. About 60 members took part in this awareness camp. Mr. Anantha Murthy, Dy Director, SIRD, Manipal explained the functioning of SHG (Self Help Groups).

Mr. P S Nayak, Regional Manager, Syndicate Bank, RO, Udupi was the Chief Guest.  Mr. Ramesh Poojary, UDM, Uudpi, Mr. Rathnakar Udyavar, Senior Branch Manager, Barkur and Mrs. Leelavathi of Child and women welfare Dept. Udupi were present during the occasion.

Rotary Club and Syndicate Bank, Barkur organise the cattle show at Barkur

Syndicate Bank, Barkur in association with Rotary Club, Barkur and Heradi Milk Producers union, organised a "CATTLE SHOW" and Animal Check up Camp at Hosala, Barkur. Prizes were given to the the best cross breed and local and calf category. Mr. Nagayya Shetty was awarded with best cross breed cow category. Sri P S Nayak, Regional Manager, Syndicate Bank, Mr. Bhojraj Shetty, President, Rotary Club, Barkur and Mr. Rathnakar K. Udyavar, Senior Branch Manager were present on the occasion.

Agriculture extension programme by Syndicate Bank

Syndicate Bank, Barkur Branch organised "Agriculture Extension Programme" at Kavady Higher Primary School premises to give awareness of various Agriculture loan schemes including Syndicate Kisan Card Scheme of the Bank. Mr. Padmanabh Kanchan, Chartered Accountant, presided over the function. Mr. Ramesh Poojary, Head District Manager, Udupi, Mr. Rathnakar K. Udyavar, Senior Branch Manager, Barkur and Head Master of the School Mr. M. Ganapathi were present for the function.

About 150 farmers of Kavady village and the surrounding area participated in the function and were grateful to the Bank for organising such functions for the benefit of the farmers.

Syndicate Bank, Barkur Branch creating ripples in the normally calm waters of Barkur. The Bank officials organised many programmes around Barkur and were in news  these days, felt the necessity of honouring Mr. B. Seetharama Shetty, Retd. Principal of National P. U. College for his selfless services on the occasion of the celebration of Teachers' Day. Mr. N. Sudhakar Rao, H. M., Hanehalli Primary School, Barkur was present on the occasion.

Bank also installed  Best Performer Award at the Govt. First Grade College, Barkur.

Sri P. S. Nayak, Regional Manager, Udupi handing over "THE SYNDICATE BANK ROLLING CUP" to Sri K. Jayaprakash Hegde, Ex. Minister and MLA.

This cup will be given to the Best Performing Class of Govt. First Grade College, Barkur. Mr. Rajshekar Hebbar, Principal of the College, Mr. Sudhakar Shetty, Industrialist, Mumbai and Mr. Rathnakar K. Udyavar,Senior Branch Manager were present on the dais on the occasion of "Prathibha Day Celebration" of the college held at Sri Gurudev Bhavan, Barkur.

BARKUR BILLAVA SEVA SANGA CELEBRATES 149TH   BIRTHDAY OF BRAHMASHREE NARAYANA GURU SWAMI

Billava Seva Sangha (R), Barkur celebrated the 149th  Birthday of Brahmashree Narayana Guru Swamy on Wednesday, 10th   September in a meaningful way.

Various programmes were held on that  day  from  morning 6 till the evening.  Shuddha  Homa was performed at 6.00 a.m. followed by  Bhajanas programme  by  the members of Brahmashree Narayana Guru  Bhajana  Mandali and the  Sathyanarayana Pooja followed by Anna Santharpane at 12 noon.

Evening  public  function was presided over by Sri. Vinay Kumar Sorake,  Local  M.P.,   Sri  P. Basavarj,  Ex M.L.A.,  Mrs. Geetha Shambu  Poojary  and  Mr. B.N. Shankar Poojary, Zilla Panchayath members  were  the  guests of honour. The guests present on the occasion  praised  the  services   Billava Sangha  rendering to the society.

Various  cultural programmes were arranged by the members included  the famous comedy drama "Muru Muthu".

Prestigious Konkani Vavraadi Award for Naveen Sequeira, Barkur.

Naveen Sequeira, Barkur, the creator of the first complete Konkani portal , www.maaibhaas.com  (mother tongue) is honored with prestigious Konkani Vavraadi award by Konkani Kullvaar a  forum of Konkani writers in Kuwait on 12th September.

Konkani Kullvaar Kuwait - A forum of Konkani writers in Kuwait, celebrated its grand event on the 12th   September 2003 at Royal Auditorium - Abbasiya Kuwait.

Mr. Valley Quadras, a prominent story writer and poet in Kuwait and the Honorary Editor of Jhelo , Kuwait Special issue,  announced the two great Konkani Sons who have been doing a great job from few years. For their selfless, dedicated work - Not only Kullvaar, all the Konkani lovers have showered the praises. The prestigious 'KONKANI VAVRAADI' Puraskar was being given to Mr. Lawrence Coelho - Editor of DIVO, a Mumbai based Konkani weekly, and Mr. Naveen Sequeira - Founder of first complete Konkani website - www.maaibhaas.com.

Mrs. Janet Ivan Almeida introduced Mr. Lawrence Coelho and the great work done by DIVO over the past years. Mrs.Jessy D'Cruz introduced Mr. Naveen Sequeira and poured showers of praises for the work of Naveen.

On behalf of Mr. Lawrence Coelho and Mr. Naveen Sequeira, Mr. L.J.Brahmavar and Mr. Valley Quadras received the memento and the Maanpotr and the sum of Rs.10,000=00 each from Fr.Melwin D'Cunha. Mr. Valley Quadras mentioned 'Its my great honor to receive such an award on behalf of such a great Konkani lover'

Mr. Naveen Sequeira, son of Mr. Urban and Mrs. Alice Sequeira of Halekody ward,  from Matpadi near the bridge across river Seetha, completed his education at Brahmavar and ventured into web designing at Mumbai.  A professional web designer trained at Aptech , Mr. Sequiera moved on to Dubai after  a brief stint at Zee TV,  and now runs his own business of Web Designing at Dubai.

The portal maaibhaas.com, a dream and mission of Naveen was launched on September 20th   2002, is the first ever complete Konkani portal, where visitors don't have to download the fonts to read Konkani , as Naveen used the Dynamic Fonts for the first time for a Konkani site. The portal turned out to be household name among the Konkans around the globe and achieved phenomenal success , due to Naveen’s love for the mother tongue and hard work and sheer determination. There are very few or can say none to help him due to the high tech nature of the portal and manages the site almost as one man mission, despite of his full time professional engagements.
