Alternate
mud road to cross the river
The alternate mud road to cross the river Sita at the bridge site
is once again complete for this year and will be thrown open to
the public in another 2-3 days. Though last year all kinds of
vehicular traffic was allowed to pass through the mud road , this
year it will not be so , as informed by the Mr.Jagadeesh,
Executive Engineer, PWD, who is in-charge of the reconstruction of
the bridge.
The reconstruction work is going on in full swing , so heavy
vehicles will not be allowed to pass through the mud road as it
may hinder the smooth work flow. Only two wheelers and pedestrians
will be allowed. Passage of light vehicles is still under
discussion. Girders are being constructed between the spans of the
pillars at the time being and by April 2006 almost 6 spans will be
complete. Demolition of the old spans from the Brahmavar end is
completed on 26th March .According to Mr.Jagadeesh all
the efforts are taken to expedite the work , so the bridge will be
up and kicking by August 15th 2006 for a Independence
Day opening.
