Heartfelt condolences to the departed soul of our Lawrie

Dear Wilma,Ruby,Godfrey bai,Clara,Sr Shanthi,Harry,Edna and Daphne and all family members, It was really shocking and news came like a bolt from the blue to hear Lawrie’s untimely death. He was great leader and an inspiration for all of us when we were in CYM and a good friend of mine and my brothers in Bombay and later. I was told recently that he is ailing from kidney failure and receiving his renal replacement therapy at Manipal. May his soul rest in peace and I along with my family members pray for the repose of his great soul.

Lawrie, you have a special place in heaven for all you did on this Earth and for people of Barkur. May the good Lord give you all enough courage, fortitude to bear this irreparable loss. All I can say is that we have a powerful soul to intercede for all of you henceforth. I am sure thousands came to bid adieu to you with tearful eyes. Myself and my family members joining you in expressing our heartfelt condolences for the departed soul of Lawrie. All I can say is only time only has to heal the wounds left by his death. Our heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family. May the departed soul rest in heavenly peace. Truly a great human being, lived for greater ideals. Untimely death un-called for such a person, but destiny chooses best from the lot very early. We are really sad to hear this sad news.

M. M Alvares, Mangalore, 28/03/2008

Hi Kishoo,

I am shocked and terribly upset to hear about the sad and untimely demise of our very own Lawrie...(Lawrie  as we called him from childhood), I also thank Archie for informing or say forwarding the mail... very kind of him... and respect him for that. I thought Lowry would be in Dubai so, some how wanted to reach and pay  my last respects. But unfortunately he will be laid to rest in Barkur... I know it is indeed a blessing to be buried in a place where his elders and parents are resting...

All I could ask you is to convey my and my family members Heartfelt, deepest sympathies to all the members of his family. Especially to Sr. Shanthi and Harry.

You know, words are not enough to express the love, fondness, care and friendship we all shared from the very beginning. All of us, really rocked the kudru or say Barkur for a long time...and for me as only 'one odd pod' being a Monteiro amongst the 'Sequeira's...yet treated as their own...and we have had the best in those days and years to come... the sweet old memories filled with fun and splendor... Praise be to God but Lawrie’s loss is unexpected as I had no clue on his illness. It is really shocking and sad for me.

Please convey our condolences... and make sure to get some pics. of our beloved Lawry's final journey..pls.

Thanks & Prayer filled wishes...

Vera C.M.,Dubai, 27/03/08

Dear Kishoo

It is a great shock to learn the untimely demise of our friend Lawrie. We remember the golden days in late seventies where we used to group together for various activities in Barkur. May his soul rest in peace and let perpetual light shine upon him. May Almighty give enough strength to his family members to bear this loss.

Regards

Dear Wilma, Shanti, Harry, Josephine, Ruby, Dora, Clara, Edna, Dafney

Sorry to hear about Lawrie’s untimely death to both myself and Ida. My memory is going back to few years……. we spent so many wonderful and happy moments together; Lawrie was always an inspiration to lot of youngsters. It is hard to believe that he is no more. My association with him, especially during our SPA days in Bombay is unforgettable. Yes he is in a better place now, May Almighty give you all family members the courage and

Strength to overcome this huge loss of our beloved brother.  MAY HIS SOUL REST IN PEACE.

Vincent & Ida, California (USA), 27/03/08

Dear Wilma & Sequeira Family,

All of us lost a great friend in Lawrence A. Sequeira. We call back our association with him way back from 70’s, almost 3 decades. He lived short but left behind great legacies. In its true sense a social human being, concerned for the general welfare of others, sacrificed a lot for fellow brethren – especially his valuable time, talent and personal money for the single cause ‘Barkurian Unity in Mumbai’.

Please accept our heartfelt condolences, we know, it’s a loss can not be made good by any means. Lawrie was a symbol of ‘youth power’ to Barkurian’s, spirit behind the success story of ‘St. Peter’s Association – Barkur – Mumbai’. A man gifted to motivate others to extract best in them. He never craved for fame for self, but made many of his contemporaries famous. Yes Lawrie, your immaculate smile and tall and towering personality will remain in our memories for ever.

This evening while laying your mortal remains to rest, we pray to Almighty to grant eternal peace and reward in heaven for all you have done.

With heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family, we pray to our Lord to grant eternal peace to the departed soul and you all strength to bear the loss.

Dear Wilma, Shanti, Harry, Josephine, Ruby, Dora, Clara, Edna, Dafney The news of Lawrie's passing is a great sorrow to all of us in Kuwait. How can we say how much he meant to us, how much we loved him and how much we will miss him his jolly stories and good spirits. Lawrie is admired by countless friends. There is, of course, little comfort in knowing that so many of his friends join in your loss however, please accept our heartfelt sympathy and condolences.

Congratulations

The news of appointment of Rev. Fr. Henry  D’Souza as the Bishop of Bellary brought smiles and happiness to all. Not long ago, it was decided to bifurcate Mangalore diocese into three, the one being Kallianpur, the name of Fr. Henry was heard as a probable bishop of Udupi-Kallianpur diocese. Now people of Bellary are privileged lot to have a dynamic  sheperd in Fr. Henry. At times we feel envy of Barkurians, as i was told, Fr. Henry  a priest  with a difference, cultivated special likes to Barkur even after leaving Barkur. Various messages substantiate  this. It is great to note, he is behind every successful step - Barkur witnessed for the last 25-30 years in Bombay.

While sending heartfelt felicitations and good wishes to Bishop Henry D’Souza, I am the one eagerly looking and praying for Fr. Henry like leader to take up the new diocese of Udupi, and confident our prayers will be heard by Almighty.

G.S. Lewis, Kallianpur - 20/03/08.

Dear Rev.Fr Henry,

It gives me and my family members immense pride and joy that the clergy and CBCI have appointed you as the Bishop of Bellary. You richly deserve this for all your noble qualities and personality. In my book, this coveted post was long overdue and should have been rightfully yours long back. But I am not here to pass judgement on anyone but to express my kudos and congrats to you.

We all know what you are made up with as we witnessed you as an assistant parish priest during the year 1976 and that turns out to be your only post as a parish priest. We were lucky to have your services and what a change you have brought in Barkur, it is there for all of use to see till today. I think we all benefited from your guidance and support immensely is an understatement. In brief you were great orator, writer, actor, organiser and a counsellor for people who are in distress. I feel you brought that energy, enthusiasm, freshness and innovation in us and amongst people of Barkur. We owe you a lot, Dear Fr Henry, and we will continue to remain indebted to you for all you have done for us. Your ability to remain child-friendly and ability to form friendship, camaraderie and rapport with children and in people whom you met will be etched in my memory. I always remember the helping hand you have extended in pursuing my career and aspirations. I am sure Barkur is and will remain close to your heart and as our Aba priest late Rev.Fr.Joseph D’Souza used to say that visiting Barkur is and will remain for you like visiting mother’s house.

As your embark upon a responsible and challenging career, I pray almighty that the people will see more wonders from your hand and from your immense wisdom. May God give you good health to lead as a shepherd for his loving flock that is people of Bellary Diocese and all people of Karnataka. I am sure time is not far off for you to be Arch-Bishop and Cardinal soon. Please do remember us in your prayers and in particular your loving people of Barkur. I am again humbled and honoured to hear this great news that you have been appointed as Bishop of Bellary and once again you are one of the person who touched my heart profoundly and made difference in my life. I wish you the very best in your life as a Bishop of Bellary. With humble prayers and best wishes,

Dr Derick D’Souza and family, London, Mr Mike and Mr Norman D’Souza, Mrs Nellie DSouza and Mrs Sophia D’Souza, Mumbai, Mrs Clara Oilvera, Bangalore and all other family members. 19/03/2008

A holy priest, a writer, a journalist, a webmaster, a choreographer, a  communicator, and moreover a visionary Rev. Fr. Henry Praveen D'Souza,  born in Kinnigoli, becomes the Bishop of Bellary, India.

Congratulations. It's heartening to know that whatever you do, you are doing  'Joyfully' with a ever ready smile.  Barkur is proud of you. Let your joy reach  out to more and more people.

I would like to thank you for featuring a full page article about Dr.  Sr. Consilia Fernandes in the prestigious CBCI website, and for your  prayers and 'other' help to her in her last breathing days.

James Fernandes, USA, 17/03/2008

Our heartiest congratulations to Fr. Henry D’Souza, on getting appointed as the Bishop of Bellary Diocese. It is a great news for all, specially so, for all Barkurians. Two years in Barkur as Asst. Parish Priest, first posting after his ordination, young and energetic, humble and handsome, dynamic and humorous, talented and visionary, a true leader, Fr. Henry has influenced many and has been the idol for many young parishioners of Barkur, who have now attained higher positions in the society.

Fr. Henry, who then on has served  in many senior and responsible positions in the organizations such as Sandesha, Signis India, Signis Asia, CBCI and others  is  truly, long deserving Bishop today, to shepherd more than 25000 faithful. And we are proud of him. On this occasion we wish him all the very best and pray  God Almighty  may grant him good health, strength and  wisdom so that he may carry on with the work assigned to him in His Vineyard, in His way.

John Gonsalves, Barkur (Muscat)17/03/2008

That's fantastic. It is great news indeed. My heartiest congratulation to Rev.Fr.Henry D'Souza

Fredrick Fernandes, Operations Consultant, Alshamel Holidays, Kuwait,16/03/2008

The very name of Rev Fr. Henry D’Souza, inspires thrill to Barkurians. Why not, historical St. Peter’s Church, Barkur is the only parish in the whole of Mangalore Diocese fortunate to have his services as Assistant Parish Priest – May 1976, soon he was ordained priest – till May 1978.

Secondly, it was Fr. Henry D’Souza who laid the foundation to the ever shining CYM of Barkur on 10th September 1976. We owe a great to this holy man as it was Fr. Henry again, who was the spirit behind the forming of now famous St. Peter’s Association Barkur – Bombay in 1988.

Once again it was Rev. Fr. Henry D’Souza who gave birth to ICYM Barkur Ex-Member’s Association Barkur in Dec. 2002.

Today, we all filled with great joy and gratitude’s to Almighty Lord, as Rev. Fr. Henry D’Souza is chosen to be the Bishop of Bellary Diocese, Karnataka and pray for your good health and the Diocese and its people enrich with great divine qualities in you spiritually and materially in days to come.

P.Archibald Furtado, Muscat,16/03/2008

Please convey our congratulations and best wishes to newly appointed  Bishop D'Souza, there is every reason to Barkurian's to be  a part of the celebration on the elevation of your best known priest, Fr. Henry D'Souza.
