Congratulations
Your Excellency Rev.Fr Henry,
Many congrats for having chosen as Bishop of Bellary and sad that I
could not make for your Episcopal Consecration. Thanks for your
invitation long back. I can only envisage and conjure up images of
grand celebration, pomp and grand ceremony that entail your Episcopal
consecration. The multitude of crowds and the clergy and laity that
attended the function speaks volume of how fondly people remember you
and your popularity.
I was touched to hear in your speech that you will concentrate more in
women education. I am sure you will champion the cause of woman
education and work for the people who are impoverished, marginalised
and downtrodden in society. I am very positive that God has called you
in his mission to serve this Diocese at a right time and I am sure you
will become the darling of people and cynosure of all eyes of this
Diocese and soon will take this Diocese to new dizzy heights. May God
give you the strength, courage, fortitude and grace to lead and to
guide his flock to the path of righteousness and justice. I feel this
Diocese needs your leadership and with many familiar faces like Rev.Fr
Monsgr Mark Gonsalves and our neighbour Rev.
Fr Anthony Fernandes to lend you all the help and support, I am sure
you will succeed in your mission and bring only happiness,
joy, camaraderie and wellbeing to the people of Bellary . We pray for
you and proud you, Your Excellency, Rev Fr Henry. I was glad that many
stalwarts from Barkur parish came and witnessed the grand function.
Our thoughts and prayers are there with you always.
With prayers and best wishes,
Dr Derick D’souza and family,
London, And all other family members.

Thirty years ago, my
grand father Late Manuel Fernandes visited our home from Kollegal (Mysore
Dist.) After attending Sunday mass, he was so impressed with Fr. Henry
D’Souza then assistant parish priest of St. Peter Church Barkur, who
preached sermon and celebrated the mass. When he returned home, he was
telling to my mother that one day he become a Bishop! True, it
happened now.
Congratulation Rev.
Bishop .May the God give you strength and courage to continue in your
mission.Best wishes from:

Bellary and Barkur inter
related for many reasons. Near Bellary or Hospet, there lies a world
famous old historical city Hampi. It was the capital of famous Vijaya
Nagara rulers 1336 – 1646, for almost 300 years. It was these great
rulers, first developed Barkur as their gate way to West, as first
harbor and constructed a fort. Apart from royal, there were proven
cultural, religious and commercial relationships with these two oldest
cities.
Over the years many
Barkurian’s migrated to Bellary and found their permanent dwelling,
recognition and prospered. There were Barkur born priests too serving
in the Diocese, Mons . Mark Gonsalves as Vicar General and Rev. Fr.
Anthony Fernandes a senior priest of high repute.
It is said history
repeats, and today, Rev. Fr. Henry D’Souza, who spent his first two
valuable years, soon after his priestly ordination in service of Lords
Barkur vineyard as Assistant Parish Priest, in our parish dedicated to
Apostle St. Peter, under saintly Rev. Fr. Joseph D’Souza, now
consecrated as fourth Bishop of Bellary Diocese. For us, it is a great
moment of joy to thank Almighty, and congratulate Your Excellency
Bishop Henry D’Souza and very sure the diocese will make all round
progress under your guidance and leadership.
With regards and best
wishes,

We extend our heartiest

Episcopal Consecration. As you are called to walk towards the foot
steps of Apostles, we wish you all the very best and pray Almighty
that He may grant you strength, good health, wisdom and fill you with
His love always to shepherd His loving flock. We praise and thank God
for having chosen you to serve as Bishop of Bellary Diocese. We are
very sure people of Bellary Diocese will find you as 'blessings' from
Almighty, for, your kindness and persona would only lead them towards
experiencing the love of Jesus Christ, our Lord, more and more.
With sincere wishes and
humble prayers
