There
might have been Christians in 50 AD, in Barkur. However, their
surnames/ last names were not Andrade, Menezes, Furtado, Almeieda,
Roche or Fernandes...

Its
startling to note that Msgr. Denis J. D'Souza built the Gothic style
Church of Barkur. Could you please elaborate further the history of
church. i read somewhere, Barkur had a very old church and the one
destroyed by Tippu's forces in 17th century. What I understand is the
New Roman Catholic Parish only formed some 150 years ago in 1861. I
will try for more details. Be sure Barkur probably had first Church in
the country during Apostles St. Thomas & Apostle Bartholomew's
time.....
Congratulations to newly ordained Jesuits.......let the holy land of
Barkur give birth to more holy people to serve the lord, the place
walked by the contemporaries of Christ himself...!
