Q n A Part 4  Answers to Philip Richard... Click here...

The village I treasure in my heart

My parents were born in a very small town
Which of course had its ups and downs.
My ancestors must’ve lived there all their life
Worked very hard and had to strife.
The small town is called Barkur and it’s a beautiful place
Which God has given for human race.
I hope pollution doesn’t find this part of land
Or the shimmering, golden sand.
Even though I won’t be visiting Barkur much
I still hope to keep in touch.
For Barkur is a wonderful holiday destination
And part of God’s magnificent creation.

Thank you folks for acknowledging my replies to Richard’s questions!

Thank you Mr. Nagarkar for your buttressing support to the article on Dr. Adiga.  Kishoo managed to obtain some skeleton information and I got the opportunity to piece it together, even though lot if meat is still missing.

Besides, it’s is very nice of you to write about Pope Paul II.  It’s a very informative and timely article, indeed. This man, from very mediocre beginnings and tough childhood, has shown us how to survive, how to live, face tough times, and now how to die in dignity.  He is a man of faith, had a vision, and perhaps the ‘end in mind’.  If he was poor and destitute Mother Theresa could have been the one to administer the last drop of water to him.  He lived through the time of Hitler’s/Nazi atrocities. He faced the communistic regime.  He proved that a non-Italian can, not only become a Pope, but survive the Papacy for 25 years and more.  It’s believed, that he brought down the Berlin Wall, thus communism.

Assassin’s bullets were non-lethal to him.  He averted bloody war between Argentina and Chile.  He visited over 20 countries. He spoke strongly for and supported ‘Moral Justice’ in the world, asserting morality, and by being a spokesman for human rights.  He was brave enough to acknowledge the injustice done to the Jews, (The then Pope(s) could have averted the situation), and to Muslims in the name of crusades.  He tried dialogue between Eastern Orthodox Churches, but he tried at least.   He did not hesitate to go against the Church’s protocol to hasten the beatification of Mother Theresa, who became world famous and a Nobel prize winner.  (Thanks to the poverty around the world!)  The rationalist’s say that there is a scientific explanation (the medicines) to the miracle attributed to Mother Theresa.   Hope this medicine will be made available to the thousands of cancer/tuberculosis patients around the world. Today, in spite of his health problems, he still controls one-sixth of the world’s population, the Catholics, and has influence all over the world.  He can still do lot of good to this world of ours.

James Fernandes, USA, 20/10/2003

On going through M.M.Alvares, just clicked Questions and Answers section - it is very interesting and elaborated one. All should read and if possible, be a part in making this Barkur pages, belonging to all Barkurian's - whatever way possible. Of course all sections of communities are given opportunities and scope, over here. It ultimately depends upon READERS to make use of. It is a sign of progress as updates are more frequent and vivid, news items are limited may be because of less activities back home. Views, features, essays, feelings and now messages are pro-active, enjoy friends and special thanks to Mr. James Fernandes. Mumbai Barkurian's are less focused. Why so?

Bhaskar L.Poojary, Mumbai, 18/10/2003

It is with 100% honesty, I salute and congratulate you Mr. Fernandes, my choice of PERSONALITY OF THE YEAR!!. It is you and your (at times small notes and) messages, and now witty & educative answer's to our Questions, the eye ball of this site. Fine, the gentlemen whose names rightly quoted in, are also to be respected and I also agree best in them, yet to come! Mr. Fernandes, keep this mission with a vision of developing Barkur a town with a cosmopolitan look continue, the trio, Kishoo, Archie, and YOU, are path finders and other small time player's too get encouragement and scope in this Web-site, in coming days. Being a site of ONE SMALL PLACE LIKE BARKUR, YOUR ROLE AND SUCCESS IS MODEL TO OTHERS!!

All the best,

M.M.Alvares. 16/10/2003
