Man dared to be different... Ozzy from Barkur!

India is a great Democracy and free elections give a chance to choose their leaders and express their views on various issues and any Indian Citizen one who qualifies the minimum age limit can contest the Election.

It is the courageous decision, of MR. OSWALD FERNANDES; worthy of reckoning that he has been allotted Ticket from State Level Party Kannada Nadu, to contest for Udupi Lok Sabha. He filed his nomination papers and though in any measurement, no match for the Congress Candidate Mr. Vinaya Kumar Sorake or Mrs. Manorama Madwaraj of BJP, now facing the electorate on 26th April 2004.

It is appropriate to mention over here that during his School days he was associated with CYM of Barkur as a Member in 1980-84.

Proud son of Mr. Calisthus Fernandes and Mattilda Lewis of Dharmasala was born on 21st May 1963. Married to Shobha, is father of lone child Oshel.

While congratulating Mr. Fernandes for choosing the Politics to serve the people, truly a bold step, wish him all the best in his efforts.

A mysterious death

On going through the Udayavani Daily dated 15th April that   a decomposed dead body was floating around Mabukal Bridge, the curiosity and concern was there to identify the person. The golden chain across the neck and the ring broke the tragic suspense and the person was none other than, MR. JOHN PINTO of Ruchi Bakery Barkur.

The cause of death unknown but the body got cremated on the bank of River Sita, since it was in very bad condition and short funeral service was held on the spot. John Pinto, was 42 years, was the third son of famous Pinto, the pioneer who started Bakery business in the Church Compound in 60’s.
