The 11th International Yoga Day was observed with great enthusiasm at National Higher Primary School, Hanehalli, Barkur, on 21st June 2025. The event emphasized the importance of yoga as a holistic practice for physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.
Students, dressed in their sportive uniforms, assembled in the school hall for a group yoga session, demonstrating discipline and active participation. A short stage programme followed, focused on spreading awareness about the benefits of yoga in everyday life.
The programme was efficiently compered by Shailaja Teacher, who ensured the smooth and graceful flow of events.
Headmaster Mr. Udaya Shetty delivered a warm and cordial welcome address, sharing his personal journey with yoga and how it has contributed to his health and wellness.
Student Samarth presented a well-prepared and inspiring speech, highlighting the significance of incorporating yoga into daily routine for a healthy and peaceful life.
Mr. Sudarshan Shetty, President of Alliance International Club, Barkur, was the chief guest for the occasion. He motivated the students to learn and practice yoga correctly, under proper guidance, and to embrace it as a lifelong habit.
Mr. Sadashiva Shetty, Treasurer of the Alliance International Club - Barkur extended his compliments on the occasion and encouraged students to make yoga an integral part of their daily lives.
As a mark of respect and appreciation, Mr. Madhusudan, the Yoga Guru, who has been voluntarily conducting free yoga training sessions for the past three years, was honoured with a traditional shawl in recognition of his dedicated service to the school and community.
The programme was presided over by Prof. Archibald Furtado, Admin Coordinator of the National Group of Educational Institutions. In his presidential remarks, he reminded students that yoga is India’s invaluable gift to the world, and since 2014, June 21st has been celebrated globally as International Yoga Day.
The programme concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks delivered by Navyalatha Teacher, who expressed gratitude to all dignitaries, guests, staff members, students, and volunteers who contributed to the success of the event.
