The eagerly anticipated 20th Makkala Sahitya Sammelana, Children's Literary Convention at Sri Vani High School Rajathadri Nadur in Brahmavar Taluk is scheduled for December 23, 2023. Organized by Shantivana Trust (R) Dharmasthala, the Education Department of Udupi District, Shri Ramakrishna Ashram Belgavi and Mangaluru, www.barkuronline.com in association with Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre Barkur, Brahmavar Galimane Nadur, and the Late Shivaram Shetty Birth Centenary Committee, the event promises a celebration of literature and culture.
Yashaswini A Barkuru, a student at SMS English Medium School (CBSE) Brahmavar, will preside over the 20th Makkala Sahitya Sammelana, with the esteemed poet and writer Jayanth Kaikini inaugurating the event. The procession, flagged off at 9 AM by Jalandhar Shetty, President Kadur Gram Panchayat, will mark the beginning of a day filled with literary and cultural festivities.
Renowned theatre artist Alwyn Andrade will release children's poetry compilations during the event. Dignitaries, including Ganapathi K, DDPI Udupi district, and Shabbir Hussain, Regional Chief Executive Officer IFKO (SEO) Malaysia, will grace the occasion. The valedictory program at 3 PM, presided by Yashaswini A Barkuru, will feature Block Education Officer Shabana Anjum and Dr. Krishnamurthy, among other esteemed guests.
The program includes an enlightening lecture by Dr. Pandu Shetty, Consultant Physician, and Diabetologist from Canada, addressing the topic "Kannada Medium Not an Obstacle for Higher Education." Additionally, three seminars by Jayanth Kaikini, Muniraj Renjala, and Akshay Ghokale will delve into various aspects of literature and life.
Honors will be bestowed upon Dr. Prashanth Shetty, Principal Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Nature Cure Centre Ujire, Narendra Kumar Kota, Karnataka Rajyotsava awardees, and past presidents of the Makkala Sahitya Sammelana.
