Barkur, January 26, 2024: The grounds of Maryknoll School in Barkur were adorned with vibrant hues today as the institution celebrated the 75th Republic Day with fervor and enthusiasm. Children, dressed in colorful attires, radiated joy as they immersed themselves in the festivities of the national Republic Day festival.
Under the meticulous guidance of Headmistress Mrs. Joyce Vandan DSa and her dedicated team of teachers, the students were impeccably prepared for the grand event, which commenced with a beautiful assembly and was followed by a captivating cultural program.
At precisely 9:00 am, the national tricolor was unfurled by Mr. Eric L Carvalho, Vice President of SPA Barkur – Mumbai, in the esteemed presence of Mr. Ivan Suares, the executive committee member and former Treasurer, Mr. Divyanand Gonsalves, Trustee of GBCT, and Mr. Archibald Furtado, Administrator of National Educational Institutions, Barkur.
In her warm welcoming address, the Headmistress expressed heartfelt gratitude towards SPA Barkur Mumbai, SPA Bangalore, GBCT (Global Barkurian Trust), and other generous individuals for their unwavering support and contributions towards the well-being of the school and its students.
Student leaders took the stage to articulate the significance of Republic Day and the paramount importance of the Constitution. They reminded everyone present of the sacrifices made by freedom fighters and armed forces, underscoring the essence of unity in diversity that defines modern India.
The grand event reached its conclusion with a vote of thanks delivered by teacher Mrs. Reema Lobo, who expressed gratitude to all attendees and commended the active involvement of both teachers and students, which made the program not only successful but also immensely enjoyable.
Throughout the day, the students showcased their talents through captivating performances comprising dances and songs, while being treated to snacks and sweets, adding a delightful touch to the celebratory atmosphere.
