Sabhya Friends Barkur Marks Two Decades of Traditional Festival
Barkur, October 23, 2025 – The historic Barkur Kalluchapra Deepotsava (Festival of Lights) celebrated its 21st consecutive year on Wednesday, organized by Sabhya Friends Barkur, a group of enthusiastic youth dedicated to preserving local traditions.
The historic stone structure of Kalluchapra was thoroughly cleaned and beautifully decorated with traditional earthen lamps (Hanate Deepas) for the occasion. The festival was inaugurated at exactly 6:00 PM, illuminating the ancient site with hundreds of flickering lamps.
For 21 years, Sabhya Friends Barkur has been successfully organizing this traditional Deepotsava celebration, keeping alive the cultural heritage of the historic town of Barkur. The event has become an integral part of the local festive calendar, drawing community participation year after year.




The organizers received widespread appreciation from the community for their continued efforts in maintaining this beautiful tradition.
