Anniversary of Alupothsava in Barkur. No takers this year !?
Last year from January 25th to 27th Barkur witnessed a celebration of 'Being Barkur', like never before. The once proud capital of Tulunadu, was high on spirits as the grand Alupothsava, organised jointly by Kannada and Culture Department, Tourism Department and the Udupi District Administration was held for 3 days. Everyone in and around Barkur rejoiced with the Colorful Heritage Walk, Folklore Festival, Beautiful Flower and Fruits Exhibition put up by Horticulture Department, Antique Collection display by Venkataramana Bhandarkar, excellent decorations at the Fort and Basadi area topped with various cultural shows for 3 days.
Here we are happy to give the glimpses of the celebrations last year.
With the grand Alupothsava, everyone though that, finally the Historic Capital City of Barkur got its due recognition and will be developed as a Tourist place and all its glorious past will be restored. But its been exactly one year now and there are no takers to continue Alupothsava. Everything back to square one.
