The Annual Sports Meet 2025–26 of Shri Vidyesha Vidyamanya National English Medium School, Barkur was inaugurated with great enthusiasm and a vibrant display of sportsmanship on Tuesday, 25th November 2025. The programme began punctually at 9:00 AM, graced by distinguished dignitaries from The Barkur Educational Society (R) and the school administration.

Grand Opening and Welcome

The ceremony commenced with soulful prayer hymn, by students, followed with a warm and cordial welcome  by Mrs Likhita Kotary, Principal SVVN, extended  to all the dignitaries, parents, teachers, and students. The sports arena, beautifully decorated for the occasion, reflected the spirit of energy, teamwork, and youthful excitement.

Presidential Address

Mr. B. Shantharama Shetty, President of The Barkur Educational Society (R), Barkur, presided over the event. In his brief presidential message, he highlighted the importance of sports in shaping discipline, leadership, and physical fitness among students and congratulated all achievers in the last few days at various levels, the  physical directors, HM and Staff and wished good luck to all the participants in today's events

Inauguration of the Sports Meet

The Annual Sports Meet 2025–26 was officially inaugurated by Mr. Rajarama Shetty, Correspondent of S.V.V.N English Medium School, Barkur, by lighting the traditional lamp. His encouraging words inspired students to compete with zeal while upholding the true spirit of sportsmanship.

Guard of Honour

The Guard of Honour was led by Mr. Nithyananda Shetty, TPEO Brahmavar Taluk, who lauded the school’s efforts in promoting co-curricular excellence, especially sports and games alongside academics.

Flag Hoisting Ceremony

The prestigious Sports Meet, the colourful School Flag was hoisted by Mr. Edger Fernandes, PTA President, symbolising the official commencement of athletic events and competitions. He was specially recognised and felicitated for his generosity for sponsorship of medals today.

Guests of Honour

A team of eminent guests added pride to the occasion:

Mr. Ashok Kumar Shetty, Secretary, The Barkur Educational Society (R), Barkur, conveyed his best wishes to all present.

Mr. Archibald Furtado, Administrative Coordinator, The Barkur Educational Society (R), Barkur, shared his happiness and wished the sports meet all success.

Their presence with parents and well wishers and donors motivated the students and provided encouragement for the entire school community.

Highlights

The inaugural session witnessed:

A majestic march-past by students representing various houses, as Chief guest Mr Nityananda Shetty,  received the salute. He was deservedly honoured with a memento and draping traditional shawl on this occasion.

Oath-taking ceremony by Sports Secretary Pratvesh  Mendon of SVVN affirming fair play and integrity on behalf of all events participants.

Sports Events & Participation

Sports events for L.K.G to 4th Standard were announced to be conducted on 26 November 2025 (Wednesday). The announcement was received with excitement as students eagerly anticipated the competitions.

As distinguished highlight of the program, all team members, sports persons who brought laurels to the SVVN in Cricket, Karate, Ball badminton, throwball and new record holder in the Udupi District javelin throw were recognised by the guests on stage, as Ms Jyothi read out their names with thunderous round of applause.

Closing Note

The ceremony concluded with heartfelt thanks from Mr Suresh Shetty, Physical Education Director and on behalf of the organizers, acknowledging the support of the Correspondent, Headmistress, teaching and non-teaching staff, PTA, and enthusiastic participation of students.

The inaugural ceremony stood out as a memorable beginning to a spirited sports meet, reflecting the SVVN School’s commitment to holistic development.

It was a festive look at the whole Campus, as the two days special event started with enthusiasm and joy beautifully presented by Teachers - Rakshitha, Madhushri J Rao, Bridget Gonsalves and their colleagues.
