In a commendable initiative to mark the birth anniversaries of India's iconic leaders, Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri, the Catholic Sabha, Barkur Unit, organized a 'Clean Environment Campaign' on October 2nd.
The campaign, which began at 8 AM, focused on cleaning the three sides of the church compound and the area in front of the church. The parish priest and spiritual director of the unit, Fr. Ronald Miranda, led by example, inspiring the members with his enthusiastic participation.
Key figures from the parish, including the vice president and secretary of the Parish Pastoral Council, as well as the coordinator of the Parish Pastoral Commissions, joined hands in this noble cause. The campaign saw participation not only from Catholic Sabha members but also from well-meaning parishioners, highlighting the community's collective commitment to cleanliness.
Under the leadership of Unit President Pius James D'Souza and Unit Secretary Rippon D'Souza, the campaign progressed smoothly, demonstrating the power of community action in maintaining a clean environment.
This initiative serves as a fitting tribute to the ideals of cleanliness and community service championed by Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri. It also underscores the Catholic Sabha's dedication to social and environmental causes, setting an example for other community organizations to follow.
The success of this campaign not only resulted in a cleaner church premises but also fostered a sense of unity and shared responsibility among the parishioners of Barkur. Such grassroots efforts play a crucial role in creating awareness about environmental cleanliness and its importance in our daily lives.
As the community reflects on this successful initiative, there's hope that such campaigns will become a regular feature, inspiring more people to take an active role in maintaining the cleanliness and beauty of their surroundings.
