The Barkur Parish organized a heartwarming Mother's Day celebration on September 21, 2025, at the parish hall from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. The event, titled "Mothers' Day " was coordinated by the Women's Association and drew participation from 80 mothers from the parish community.
The program commenced with an opening prayer by Irene, followed by a warm welcome address delivered by Rashmin Olivera. MC Shalet Dias skillfully anchored the proceedings throughout the evening.
Savita Picardo presented the introductory speech, setting the tone for the celebration. The event featured special honors for two distinguished mothers - Lilly Almeida and Felsy Fernandes - recognizing their contributions to the community.
Daisy Mendonsa served as the resource person for the program, while Joseph Fernandes delivered an inspiring guest speech. Fr. Ronald Miranda, the parish president, addressed the gathering with his presidential remarks. The formal program concluded with a vote of thanks presented by Shwetha Pinto.
Following the stage presentations, participants were divided into four themed groups: Lovely Mothers, Generous Mothers, Strong Mothers, and Humble Mothers. These groups engaged in innovative activities specifically designed around motherhood themes, featuring ten different activities that celebrated the essence of motherhood.
The celebration also included two entertaining spot games that added excitement to the session. The participating mothers showed enthusiastic involvement throughout the program and expressed their appreciation for the thoughtfully organized event.
The successful celebration highlighted the parish's commitment to honoring and appreciating the vital role of mothers in the community, creating lasting memories for all attendees.
