Singers from Barkur gave impressive performance in the semi-final of Udupi diocese-level Wilfy Rebimbus Memorial Singing competition that was held in association with 'The Expressions' Barkur at Mother of Sorrows Church hall here on Sunday October 4. The competition is in its fifth year, but this is the first time it was held in Udupi.
Ashan D’almeida, Riya Andrade and Placida Picardo participated in Under 16 Category. Whereas, Michelle Andrade, Janice D’souza and Franklin Fernandes participated in Above 16 Category.
Ashan Almeida and Placida Picardo won third place in Under 16 Duet Singing. Franklin Fernandes won 3rd place in Male Solo Singing. Michelle Andrade was one amongst the Fantastic Five singers of Female Solo Singing Category.
Franklin Fernandes and Janice D’souza won First Place in Duet Singing and also qualified for the Mega Final to be held in Jeppu on Novemeber 15.
All the singers are also the members of Barkur Church Choir Group and were trained by Mr Eric Soans.
