Volunteers clear clogged drains to solve waterlogging issues
BARKUR - Volunteers from multiple community organizations joined hands to conduct a cleanup drive at Barkur Bridge and its surroundings, successfully clearing clogged drain holes that were causing waterlogging and traffic disruption.
The initiative was organized by Rotary Club Barkur, Shourya Disaster Management Team, Garadi Friends, RCC, and Kachur Friends. The collaborative effort focused on clearing blocked drainage systems that had been creating hazardous driving conditions during rainfall.
Leadership and Active Participation
The cleanup drive was led by Ganesh Shetty, President of Rotary Club Barkur, and Secretary Ajith Kumar Shetty. The volunteer team included active participants: Ajith Kumar Shetty, Prakash Tantri, Narayan Naik, Vinay Kumar, Ganesh Acharya, Madhusudhan from Kachur, Manjunath Poojari, Deepak Poojari, and Yogish Bhandari.
Immediate Results
With the drain holes now functioning properly, water flow has been restored, significantly reducing waterlogging risks. This improvement benefits daily commuters using the Barkur Bridge by ensuring safer travel conditions.
