The Rotary Club of Barkur recently hosted the official visit of District Governor Rtn. PHF. B. C Geetha at the Sankamma Thayi Sabha Bhavana in Barkur. The event welcomed distinguished guests of honor, Rtn PHF Alwyn S Quadros and Rtn. Rajaram Aithal K. Also in attendance were Rtn. Seetharam S, President of the Barkur Rotary Club, and Rtn. Babu Nayak, the Program Director.
The primary focus of the event was to acknowledge and celebrate the outstanding achievements of individuals across diverse fields. One notable honoree was Mrs. Geetha Anand Shetty, the President of Ann's Club, Barkur, and a teacher at Government High School Vaddarse. Mrs. Shetty secured gold in the 100 meters and silver in the 200 meters at the state-level sports meet for government employees.
The spotlight also highlighted the accomplishments of Mr. Shrisha G. Bhat from Barkur, a Master's Degree holder in Karnatak classical music, who earned an impressive total of 7 gold medals. Additionally, the recognition extended to Yashaswini Devadiga, a PUC student at Govindadas College, Surathkal . She is the daughter of Devadass and Meenakshi Devadass and emerged victorious as the Miss Teen titleholder in an international beauty pageant held in Thailand.
The event took a special moment to acknowledge the contributions of new members, Harish Kundar (CA), Barkur, and Shri Ratnakar Shetty (Retired Headmaster of Mandarthi). With their induction, the Barkur Rotary Club's membership now stands at an impressive count of 58.
