"Green Barkur" Initiative Launched with Tree Plantation Drive and Free Sapling Distribution

Rotary Club Barkur (Zone-3, RI District 3182), in joint collaboration with the Rotary Community Corps (RCC) and the Nammooru Barkur Facebook Group, organized a Vana Mahotsava (forest festival) along with the free distribution of medicinal and fruit-bearing plants today morning at 10 o'clock sharp near the Barkur Post Office.

The event was presided over by H. Ajith Kumar Shetty, the newly appointed President of Rotary Club Barkur.

The chief guests included Shri B. Shantharama Shetty (President, Barkur Educational Trust (R), Barkur); Rtn. Vijay Kumar Shetty (Assistant Governor, Zone-3); Rtn. Seetharama S (Zone Representative, Zone-3); Rtn. A. Ratnakara Shetty (Deputy Chairman, Dhanyatha Environment Programme); Rtn. Ananda Shetty (Zone Trainer); and Rtn. B.S. Ganesh Acharya (Secretary, Rotary Club Barkur).

Also present were progressive farmer Shri Srinivasa Udupa Kudli, members of the Rotary Club, members of the Rotary Community Corps (RCC), members of the Rotary Women's Group, members of the Nammooru Barkur Facebook Group, media representatives Shri Uday Achar and Shri Shivarama Achar Bandimath, along with members of the public.

The ceremony was inaugurated by symbolically presenting saplings to the guests. Toward the conclusion of the event, various varieties of medicinal and fruit plants were distributed to the public, formally launching the "Green Barkur" initiative.

Rtn. B.S. Ratnakara Shetty welcomed the guests and compered the programme. Rotary President Shri H. Ajith Kumar Shetty delivered the closing remarks, following which Shri B.S. Ganesh Acharya proposed the vote of thanks.

Heartfelt gratitude was extended to all members of the RCC Barkur team, who extended full cooperation for the programme, as well as to the members of the Barkur Shourya Team, the Barkur Car Drivers' and Owners' Association, and everyone who contributed directly or indirectly to the success of the event.
