ICYM Barkur Celebrates Annual Youth Day with Enthusiasm and Tradition

ICYM Barkur Parish markewards  48th Annual Youth Day on December 18, 2024, in conjunction with the Parish Feast evening, continuing a long-standing tradition of joy, unity, and vibrant celebrations. The event was held in the parish premises and witnessed a lively gathering of parishioners, making it a memorable occasion for all.

Distinguished Guests and Leadership

The celebration was graced by the presence of former resident priest Rev. Fr. Rolvin Fernandes, who served as the Chief Guest. Currently serving as the Assistant Parish Priest at Pangla Parish, Fr. Rolvin’s return to Barkur was met with warmth and affection from the parishioners.

Joining him on the stage were Rev. Fr. Ronald Miranda, the Parish Priest, along with key members of the Parish Pastoral Council. Among them were Jossie Fernandes, Vice President of the Parish Pastoral Council, Herald D’Souza, Convener of Various Parish Commissions, and Eric Soans, Secretary of the Parish Pastoral Council. Their leadership and guidance have been instrumental in organizing and executing this event.


Cultural Extravaganza by ICYM and Parishioners

The evening’s highlight was the variety of entertainment programs, meticulously prepared and presented by the Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) members. Their spirited performances reflected the energy and creativity of Barkur’s youth, captivating the audience.

Adding to the vibrancy were performances by members of YCS, various parish groups and  parish wards. Over the past several days, parishioners from all wards dedicated their time and effort to plan and practice their acts. This resulted in an eclectic mix of performances, ranging from traditional dances to modern skits, which enthralled the audience and showcased the unity and talent of the parish community.


A Celebration of Unity and Tradition

The Annual Youth Day celebrations were not merely an event but a testimony to the enduring spirit of togetherness in Barkur Parish. The active participation of parishioners, regardless of age, underscored the collective effort and dedication that went into making the event a success.

As the evening concluded, the parishioners left with hearts full of joy, a renewed sense of community, and anticipation for next year’s celebration. The event once again highlighted Barkur Parish’s commitment to nurturing its youth and preserving its cherished tradition.
