ICYM Barkur Unit Visit to Karunalaya, Brahmavar

News : Rian Angelo Arouza, President-ICYM Barkur

On 13th of July, 2025, the ICYM Barkur unit, accompanied by their Animator Mr. Johnson D'almeida, had the privilege of visiting Karunalaya, a senior Citizen Home in Brahmavar, spreading joy and companionship to the residents. As we stepped into the Ashram, we were greeted with warm smiles and eager eyes, ready to engage with our team. Our visit was a symphony of laughter, music, and togetherness, as we spent quality time with the elderly, engaging them in games, action songs, and musical performances.

The highlight of the visit was witnessing the residents' faces light up with joy, as we sang along to familiar tunes and danced together. What struck us most was their active participation and involvement in all the activities, which showcased their enthusiasm and zest for life. Our team was humbled by their stories, which spoke of resilience, hope, and the will to live. We were equally delighted by their singing talents, which showcased their hidden skills and passion for music.

The nuns managing the Ashram were wonderful hosts, ensuring that every aspect of the home was well-maintained and ran smoothly. Their dedication and care for the residents were evident in every detail. During our visit, the nuns were fully engaged, participating in the activities and adding to the festive atmosphere.

The ICYM Barkur unit's visit was made even more special by our collective effort to donate essentials to the home. Each member of our unit contributed from their own pockets, demonstrating the true spirit of selflessness and compassion. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the parents of our members, who willingly supported this initiative and enabled us to make a difference.

The residents were overwhelmed with gratitude, and their heartfelt thanks were a testament to the impact of our small act of kindness. As we bid farewell to the residents, we knew that our visit had left an indelible mark on their lives. We also realized that we had gained far more than we had given – a renewed sense of purpose, compassion, and a deeper understanding of the importance of community service.

The ICYM Barkur unit is grateful for the opportunity to serve and looks forward to more such initiatives, inspired by the love and resilience of the residents at Karunalaya. Kudos to the ICYM Barkur unit for making a difference!
