Ms Karishma Sanil, daughter of Mr Sudarshan Sanil and Mrs Indira has qualified to represent India in 'World School Athletics Championship' to be held in Trabzon, Turkey, from July 11 to 18. She will be participating in the sport of Javelin Throw.
Ms Karishma Sanil, student of Government Pre University College, Brahmavar, qualified to the International Level by representing Karnataka State in National Level Sports Meet held in the month of February. She secured Gold Medal in Javelin Throw. It is notable that she was the only Gold Medallist for the state in that particular Sports Meet.
Ms Karishma attained her primary education in Government Higher Primary School, Santhegudde, Barkur. Being a sports enthusiast, she has participated in various sport meets in different levels since her school days. The games of her liking were Shot-Put Throw, Discuss Throw and Javelin Throw. She managed to secure number of medals in these particular games.
After completing her primary education she joined Government P U College Brahmavar. She represented the school in various levels and accomplished the following,
8th Standard
Shot-Put - First Place in Taluk Level.
- First Place in District Level with new record (9.85 metres)
- Fourth Place in State Level.
9th Standard
Shot-Put - First Place in Taluk Level
Javelin Throw - First Place in Taluk Level

- Fourth place in District Level

For her incredible performance in Taluk Level Sports she was awarded with the Taluk Championship Prize and also qualified for District level. There she made a new record in Javelin Throw by reaching the distance 35.55 mitres and qualified for State Level in style. She then participated in State Level Competition and secured First Place in Javelin Throw with setting a new record of 34.36 mitres and qualified for National Level.
The 61st National Level Sports Meet was held in Calicut, Kerala earlier this year in the month of February. By reaching the distance of 37.45 mitres Ms Karishma secured the only Gold Medal for the state in the event and qualified to represent India Internationally.
Ms Karishma is a multitalented sports person. She is also a good volleyball player, is also the captain of school team. Under her leadership the school team secured first place in Taluk Level Volleyball competition and qualified for district and secured first place there as well. In zonal level competition the team reached semi-final and has also participated in State Level.
Along with being a champion sports-person, Ms Karishma is champion in studies as well. She has secured Distinction grade in recent S.S.L.C examinations. She has passed with 89.28% marks, setting an example to all the students and disproving the people who tend to believe that students being active in sports or other co-curricular activities cause adverse effect on their studies.
