On Sunday, September 1, 2024, a grand celebration of Krishna Janmashtami, along with a "Muddu Krishna" competition, was held at the Sri Pattabhi Ramachandra Kalyana Mantapa in Barkur. The event was organized by Seva Sangama Sri Narayana Guru Shishu Mandira Badana Goli Hosala Barkur, in collaboration with Rotary Club Barkur, Anns Club Barkur, Nammuru Barkur Facebook Group, and Shaurya Disaster Management Unit Barkur.
The program was presided over by Mr. Ganesh Shetty B., President of the Rotary Club Barkur. The event was graced by the esteemed presence of Mr. Kota Srinivas Poojary, the Honorable Member of Parliament for Udupi-Chikkamagaluru constituency.
Several distinguished guests attended the function, including Mr. K. Narayan, Trustee of Seva Sangha Trust (R) Kundapura; Vedamurthy Sri Prabhakar Bayari Hosala; Mr. Uday Kumar Shetty from Meenakshi Medical Brahmavara; Mr. Umesh Acharya of Veena Jewellers Barkur; and many other local dignitaries and community leaders.
The event featured various cultural programs performed by the children of Balagokula Shishu Mandira, and their mothers. A highlight of the celebration was the "Muddu Krishna" competition organized for the little ones of the Shishu Mandira and the public. Prizes were distributed to the winners, and participation gifts were given to all the children who took part in the competition.
During the occasion, several achievers from different fields were recognized and honored:
1. Kumari Samiksha Saligram, who reached the semi-finals of Zee Kannada Saregamapa Little Champs Season 19, was felicitated.
2. Donors Ved. Mu. Prabhakar Bayari Hosala, Kavradi Uday Kumar Shetty, and Srinivas Shettigar were honored. In his absence, Akshay Shettigar, son of Srinivas Shettigar, received the honor on his behalf.
3. Individuals active in social and religious fields, including Mr. Jagannath Poojari, Mrs. Jayanti Shankar Poojari Bennekudru, and Mr. Ashok C. Poojari Barkur, were recognized for their contributions.
4. Artists from various fields were also honored, including singer Mr. Ganesh Acharya Barkur, artist Mr. Santosh Acharya Barkur, and Bhajana Guru Mr. Raghavendra Rao Maski Bailu Barkur.
