Barkur, October 8, 2023 - In a celebration of poetic excellence, the Saahithya Academy, Kavita Trust, and The Expressions came together to orchestrate a memorable evening, Kavi Sandhi, at Maryknoll High School Barkur on the 8th of October, 2023. This grand event saw the convergence of literary luminaries, passionate poets, and devoted poetry enthusiasts under one roof.
The esteemed guest of honor for the evening was none other than the celebrated poet from Goa, Dr. Rajay Pawar. Dr. Pawar, renowned for his lyrical prowess and recipient of the prestigious Kavita Trust Award graced the gathering with his poetic presence. His verses have touched hearts across the literary landscape, making him a beacon of inspiration for aspiring poets.
The event witnessed the presence of several distinguished personalities, including Fr. Ronald Miranda, the Parish Priest; Rev. Fr. Rolvin Fernandes, Resident Priest; and Sr. Jasmitha Crasta, the Superior of IHM Convent. Joining them were Melvin Rodrigues, the Founder of Kavita Trust and Convener of Konkani Advisory Board, Sahithya Academy, as well as Andrew D'Cunha, a Trustee of Kavita Trust. HM Pernal, the Editor of Kittall and Member of Konkani Advisory Board, Sahithya Academy, was also in attendance. Praveen Carvalho, President of The Expressions, added to the dignified presence on the stage during the inaugural session.

HM Pernal, Vincy Pinto Angelore, Andrew D'Cunha from Mangalore, PJ Karugalnade, Eric Soans, and Zitha Gonsalves graced the stage with their evocative verses. Approximately 60 passionate poetry buffs from Barkur and its surrounding areas were in attendance, creating an atmosphere charged with literary fervor.
