In a momentous occasion for National Junior College (NJC), Barkur, the institution has etched its name in the annals of academic excellence with its outstanding performance in the Pre-University Certificate (PUC) examinations for the academic year 2023-24. Established as 'National High School, Barkur' in 1946, the institution attained the status of a Junior College in 1971, becoming a pioneering PU College in the locality. With a rich legacy spanning over 53 years, NJC offers three streams or combinations - Arts, Commerce, and Science, catering to the diverse aspirations of rural youth.
NJC has long been renowned for its state-of-the-art infrastructure, boasting Grade A laboratories, a well-stocked library, and advanced computer labs. Over the years, the institution has nurtured countless success stories, with its alumni achieving eminence in various fields including medicine, engineering, science, commerce, law, and entrepreneurship.
The eagerly awaited results for the academic year 2023-24 have been unveiled, showcasing a remarkable achievement of 96.49% overall pass rate. The students have excelled with 8 distinctions and 40 first-class performances. Notably, the Science stream secured 5 distinctions, while the Arts group achieved a perfect 100% pass rate. Additionally, all four language subjects witnessed a stellar performance, with a 100% pass rate accompanied by high marks. Despite minor setbacks, as indicated by Principal Prof. Kottraswamy, the Commerce stream remains robust, with only two students encountering challenges in a single subject each. The Principal expressed confidence in pursuing revaluation for these cases.
The success of NJC is attributed to the collective efforts of the outstanding batch of students, supportive parents, dedicated teaching faculty led by Principal Prof. Kottraswamy, and 16 experienced and highly qualified lecturers. Their unwavering commitment and tireless efforts have propelled NJC to new heights of excellence, deserving commendation on this auspicious occasion.
Last year, NJC celebrated its Platinum Jubilee with fervor, showcasing the generosity of its past students and the proactive involvement of the management. The Platinum Jubilee Celebrations Committee displayed exceptional dedication in ensuring all infrastructure facilities were meticulously maintained, further enhancing the learning environment for students.
