In a remarkable feat, Barkur National PU College has clinched top honors at the state-level sports competitions, showcasing exceptional talent in tennis, table tennis, and jump rope. These sporting events unfolded under the patronage of the Department of Pre-University Education and the Shikshana Ilake (Pre-University) in Barkur, transcending district boundaries.
The prestigious institution under the strong leadership in the form of B. Shantaram Shetty, the President of the Barkur Vidyabhivardhini Sangha. The sports competitions were inaugurated by B. Seetaram Shetty, Former Principal and the Correspondent of the College. The event also saw the presence of key figures such as B. Gopal Nayak, the institution's administrator, Rajaram Shetty, chairman of the Amrit Mahotsav Committee, Krishna Hebbar, a member of the Administrative Board, and Mrs. Jyoti Shetty, a Senior teacher in the Pre-University section.
Principal Y. Kotraswami, welcomed the gathering while Usha Kiran Shetty, Mathematics Teacher and Umesh Shetty, a Physical Education Teacher, conducted the day's events.
During the awards ceremony, Shedikodlu Vitthal Shetty, the Vice-Chairman of the Administrative Board, and Ashok Kumar Shetty, the Principal of Sriniketan Pre-University College Matapadi, were in attendance. The event enjoyed full participation from all members of the Administrative Board.
In the realm of sports, S.V.P.U. College Gangolli secured the first position in boys' tennis, while Venkataramana PU College Kundapura claimed the second spot. For girls, Venkataramana PU College Kundapura once again clinched the first position. Notably, NPUC Barkur took home the second position in both boys' and girls' tennis competitions at the state level.
Additionally, in the jump rope competition, NPUC Barkur earned first place in the boys' category and also secured the first position in the girls' category. This remarkable achievement signifies the dedication and hard work of these students, reflecting the guidance and support provided by their educational institutions and mentors. These young athletes have not only brought honor to themselves but have also made their institution proud at the state level.
